I've been in an SS with the Boston option.

I'm not sure it's worth the extra money in sound quality alone over the base stereo. Totally honest.

The one piece the base stereo in the LS lacks (and it really chaps my ass, the technology is there) is the PDIM which allows bluetooth streaming. It's probably a software hack, since bluetooth works for the phone, just not streaming music.

On sound quality, though, the base stereo really isn't bad if all you want is decent sound to commute to. It's like a pair of good headphones. Decent bass, the sound is bright enough, too much volume and it becomes annoying.

Complete crap. Most of my rear speakers are blown out now in my 2010. I had a 2001 corvette with the bose system prior to the BA and it blew it completely out of the water.

Definitely not a strong point of the vehicle ....

(Get headers and a catback and listen to that instead )

id like to see proof that it is a Boston Acoustic system. everything I have read and seen says Boston. Not Boston Acoustic.

I should have bought a ZL1

I was a professional musician for over 20 years, and I've turned on my stereo ONCE. That was because my wife told me that she wanted to hear some music when she was with me when I first got it, otherwise I wouldn't even know if it works right now. I much prefer the sound of my exhaust note over any music. Way more pleasing to my ears at this point in time in my life.

One of the worst premium systems I have run across.

With an added sub I actually really like the factory BA system. Suits my purposes just fine. At some point I may upgrade the amp.

I like my exhaust note, but I've gotta have tunes for the road.

however, it is no where the system that my 98 Firebird has with the monsoon system and 10 speakers. it is now 16 yrs old and still sounds really good.
I have to agree, the monsoon system in my '97 Z28 would kick this things butt. I could understand if this was base system, but premium? NOT!!!

My grandfather's LS460 has a 19 speaker Mark Levinson system in it. I would kill for anything close in our cars

I've always been more of a pioneer fan myself. Quality goods and a nice, wide price range.

My SS has the base system in it. When I was at the dealer, I sat in a new Camaro with the Boston Acoustics system. I messed with all the stereo adjustments and controls, and I honestly couldn't tell much of a difference between the BA and my base system. I don't think it's worth the money. The Bose in my '96 Z28 was much better.

The BA actually is pretty good in terms of range, but it is underpowered for my taste. A subwoofer will help this system out greatly. The old Monsoon system in the 4th gens, with all of its faults and so-so quality, will easily out-volume the BA. The BA, like I said earlier, has talents in wider music range response and system controls.
