If you're THAT nervous, stay AWAY from the guys with badges and go to a gun store and let them do a background check (at your expense as you did not post it would be done at the buyer's expense) I bought DOZENS of guns at garage sales. Even a .50 BMG It's cool selling them in Texas, so don't be uptight. I can tell that you bought a pistol that's a little to big on caliber and a little to small on size for a novice to handle. The SDS is a fine CHL weapon, but it's got a little too much recoil for most folks not used to big-bore micro- pistols. Go to a local gun show and stand outside with a sign telling what you have for sale. You save your $7 entry fee and sell it right away. Just be wary of dealers trying to lo-ball you and sell it inside for more cash. Remember: you meet the nicest folks at gun shows - everyone is armed.

I love assumptions. I believe paranoia is not the correct word. I would probably be the last person a rookie would pull a weapon on. Read the post more carefully. I've probably handled more weapons than most in environments that actually called for the need of the weapon. Large and small caliber, large and small frames. Either way, this weapon was sold under the terms that I asked to the right buyer. Not just someone with cash.

Pulled a few weapons while under duress myself. Even so, I cherish my time runnin and gunnin to save lives, after I completed my pipeline training and earned my maroon beret. PJ - "That Others may Live"

I'm retired from the engineering department of a local municipality. I was always cautious around young guys that just got their badge and service weapon. Their "walk on water" attitude rubbed me the wrong way. I tended to let my feelings known as I'm in no way shy around anyone or anything. Many of the seasoned officers were cool because they mellowed with experience and age. I carried a firearm in more stressful times than I have on a daily basis since I've retired. It was not easy running the pipeline training to earn my maroon beret. Even in the worst of times, I cherish those memories and the men of the teams. The mission was always completed, but we didn't bring them all home alive - members gave their lives so we could bring a body home. Those team members are the guys I miss the most.
