This is terrible advice.

This would require lying under oath.

Seriously pay the ticket. It's gonna be on your record for a few years and you're gonna get a few points.

Don't do it again and it won't be an issue.

This Govt. should be going after, arresting and deporting illegal aliens. We would have a much safer country.
Setting up speed traps and or sobriety check points is just a crock of $hit and another way to steal more money, collect taxes, from the working middle class.

You have an extremely small amount of information as to why these checkpoints and traps are performed.

Are you serious?? Or just joking?? The reason that speed traps and sobriety check point are setup is because there are some people out there who cannot make the right decisions. Blame it on Obama, the democrats, the republicans, the tooth fairy, etc.. but never on yourself???? Get real.

But, the thing I I hate the most is the big presence of cops there are on holiday weekends, but I understand why they're there. But really? In the middle of the day? I mean don't you have better things to do then to sit at a bottom of a hill? ...Anyways, now I have probably a $200+ ticket that I have to pay off which is going to be a bitch in itself.

It sucks. But you know you can be ticketed. And you know your car gets attention.

This though:

No, I rather think he doesn't. That's his duty for the moment. Some cops are administrators that stay in the station. Some are detectives that work cases. Some are patrolmen, and some work traffic details. Still others are tasked with running a speed trap.

The cop that bagged you was doing the job he was assigned. It's not as if he was supposed to be chasing a dog raping drug addict that sells children to run his meth lab on that daybut he decided to screw you over instead. He was supposed to be bagging..."idiots", using your own terminology.

You risked, you lost. It happens.

What happened to your cruise control?
It doesn't work down hill.

I have enough information to know this BS is mandated by the Feds, DOT/FHWY. I would think the Feds are expecting X amount of dollars to be brought in, by each state, every time based on population.
I believe these holiday traffic mandates were put in place by the current regime maybe five years ago.

I wouldn't just pay the ticket, go to court, be very polite to the judge and the officer, don't argue, plead guilty with an explanation, if your record is clean you may get probation before judgement and have to go to a safety class or at least get it reduced. There is also a chance that if the officer doesn't show the case could be thrown out.

You may need to get your car looked at then. I've never owned a car that the cruise control didnt work and allowed me to careene down hill until I got to a flat area and the car slow down with no intervening.

not likely. if he's a younger driver he's already paying ridiculously high rates and wont see much of an increase for a simple ticket. if he's an older driver with a good record the insurance company isn't going to car much about it ticket that didn't involve an accident, and he'll have positive points on his license. the only situation where he'd have significant consequences is if he has a bad driving record already,.

Let me guess, this is your first speeding ticket and 2nd summer driving ?

Speed traps and sobriety checks have been done on long weekends for the last 30 years. Vent a little more if it makes you feel better, but they will be back again Thanksgiving weekend. Probably in the same spot.
