What's the manufacturing date on your lid? Should be a barcoded sticker with a date (among other bits of data).

You are right, the paperwork only states that if you hear this noise to have it checked out.

In my opinion I would be very surprised to hear a blower that doesn't have some degree of marbling. I feel it's a characteristic of it and it is present in all of them to some level. There for imo it should be a recall not a tsb.

+1

I went through 4 rebuilds on my Whipple's.
They all got supper loud between 40-70k miles on them, but Whipple would just send me out a new one each time.
I had a Kenne and that lasted 37k before a free rebuild.
It is great that these companies stand behind their products.
But This Supercharger has been the loudest I have ever had at such low mileage.

My Tech said they would pay for a coupler install if I wanted, but should get the supercharger replaced do to the bearing too.

If I was stock I would not worry as much.
But if the engine goes to it will cost me for all new aftermarket part on this engine. They will not cover those.

Based upon what I've experienced recently with seeing a solid changed to a spring, if I had a 2013 or older I'd keep what I had until/unless a bearing started to go. It's better than the new rattle - again, in my sample size of one.

Totally understandable. Sucks that you have that new rattle. I for one have had the replacement and not to gloat do not have any new rattles or any other noises. I wonder how many are being affected after getting the solid put in with the new blower ? Curious if it's random or what I like to say a characteristic of the new part.
Almost wondering if you have a defective piece or a bad install done.

I think it's just tolerance stack. Folks with rotor gearsets on the 'tight' side of spec won't have any problems, and units on the loose side will. For sure it won't be across-the-board.

And, I've never heard a really bad spring unit, either. So I might well change my answer otherwise!

My spring unit was awful, way loud!
sounded like an intense game of Jax and marbles

I hope GM finds a solution about this flutter. I prefered keeping the marble like noise of the old SC than what I have now.
This flutter on my car is very obvious, escpecially on an incline.
Customers paid a hefty price for a ZL1 and I do not believe we should take this flutter lightly. Its an engineering flaw or variance that does not belong on an expensive car. I would consider an aftermarket part of parts to resolve this but I may lose out on the warranty.

Took mine in to the dealer and was going to have them listen to mine. He told me that because I changed out the Cam and got a custom tune that my entire power train warranty was Void and that they would not warranty my Super Charger. My argument was, I brought it in BEFORE any mods were done and I complained of the rattle in the Super Charger and he said that they could not hear it. He also had never heard of the TSB that was out and told me that he could not find one on it at that time. When I scheduled to take it in this time for the Super Charger noise, he said that they had now found the TSB and had actually changed one out already and knew what to look for. He said they have to get some sort of reading off of the computer and because I changed the map, he could not do it. I think its a bunch of crap. This is a known issue with the Super Charger...Nothing I did to it would cause the problem.

This doesn't really make any sense because GM sent a reimbursement
form for anyone that has replaced their coupler aftermarket. This issue goes back to
2009 on the ctsv's and has nothing to do with modding your car.
I think it would be difficult for them to deny warranty being how
GM is saying there is a problem with them in stock form. If they were
voiding warranties for modding they would not be reimbursing owners for
having them replaced anywhere but the dealer. By sending the bullitin they
pretty much have to own up to the replacement if there is a rattle.
If not check out the Magnuson-Moss warranty act, I think it will help here
just because GM acknowledged there is a problem. somewhere in these early
posts in 2012 there was a bullitin posted by GM stating that the rattle was perfectly
normal and now there saying something totally different. maybe someone on here can
find that post. I have look and can't find it but it was posted a couple times.
