They gonna take away your birthday? Because you're also in 'big trouble' if using them when not necessary. Being 'caught on the roads' in a state of emergency is generally a no-no.

39:3-73. Tire-chains
Motor vehicle tires may be fitted with tire-chains of reasonable proportions when roads, streets and highways are slippery, because of rain, snow, ice, oil, manner of construction or other reason; provided, however, that no tire-chains shall be used at any time on improved highways when highway conditions do not make such use necessary for the safety of life or property. No person shall use any tire-chains so constructed or installed as to be likely to be thrown so as to endanger any person or property.

No, you keep your birthday, you lose your car. There are people who need to travel the roads even in a state of emergency so they need to be properly equipped.

Some black chains would definitely add some mean to your car.

I've only used chains on a truck and it wasn't for driving on public roads

Buy a 4x4. That would be smarter than chains. Make sure it has a locker though.

I bought a set of quick chains when I bought the car. I used them once. They're helpful when snow has NOT been cleared at all. However, once I put on a set of decent snows, I never had any need of them at all.

the old school answer was chains. I saw a sign in Colorado that told you to chain up on a certain road at a certain times a couple years ago. The manual says no chains! He's just nervous for you.

For the 53rd time, do NOT use chains. It says so right in the owner's manual. Get some good snow tires, or if you're that worried about it, sell the Camaro and get a 4x4 or a FWD car. My DD is a Cruze and it does good in the snow. Why do you care if chains fit on a Z/28? You have a V6.

It's highly frowned upon putting chains on anything...

Get some Gabriel Hijacker air shocks and lift the rear about 6 inches like in the 60s and 70s. That should give you plenty of clearance to use chains.
