Generally, Chevy has done paddle shifters, Pontiac has the shifter slide over, and Buick and GMC have an up-down button on the shifter itself (who thought of that!?!?)

I prefer the "slide the shifter over then tap up and down" method. One, as stated earlier, it feels more like a stick shift. Secondly, I find Chevy's paddle shifters to not be in an ergonomically correct position for me. My thumbs and fingers just don't find them easily. And then, I just don't see the need to keep both hands on the wheel to shift. Really, shifting should be done mostly while going straight anyway.

I would definitely stick with the stick. Zing! It's what I'm used to, and I have a better feel for it.

Paddle shifters, ONLY IF there is a twin-clutch manually shifted auto that shifts in a few milliseconds. ex. M3, Ferrari, or Maserati style.

But Manual 6 for me.

Ideally 6 speed manual for me, but if auto then I'd prefer paddles. It's the closest I'm ever gonna get to being a real race car driver

The 07 GXP only had paddle shifters.

I still support the slide over. I drive ith one hand on the top of the wheel so that would make shifting a female dog!!!!!

I'll be going for the manual but if I had to choose between paddles or tiptronic style slide shifter on an automatic, I'd have to go with the slide style shifter. My wife's MINI Cooper S has both and I've tried. I've really tried and I just can't get used to the paddles. I can shift while cornering much better with one hand at 12 o'clock and the other on the shifter!

So, is the tiptronic kinda like a sequential shifter mode for an automatic? I would rather have that than a some paddles on the steering wheel.

I need an automatic tranny. I'd love to have paddle shifters for those times when I want to force a downshift and do so without taking my hands off the wheel.

He means visually verified because he got a peak at a few Camaros at the GM proving grounds a few weeks back. That lucky bastard. lol.

And if you want the feel of driving a stick, then drive a stick. Personally, it doesn't feel like driving a stick when I have to push up every time I want to upshift and down when I want to downshift. It also can't skip gears, and eliminates double-clutching.
