GM's Weatherpack electrical connectors are bulletproof as far as water intrusion, there is no harm when washing.

Once I install a real oil temp gauge, this will be one of the things I will try. I am really wondering what the impact is in terms of oil temp numbers with the shield on and off.

If you take out the Hex Vent trays MAKE SURE you do not drive in the rain. And even with the trays in there is some spllage on the engine. And putting on the engine cover is only a little better. The 2014+ factory vent is the better design. I wish that hood would fit my '13.

As for the Hex Vent trays the original design is the best as the trays are pretty easy to take out. With the newer design it is not practical to take the trays out. And the old design will not clear the 1LE cross brace. Sorry I bought them. I have both sets of trays. But the Hex Vents do look good and I get lots of compliments. I wish they were more functional.

If anyone local to me has an IOM 2010-2013 hood in good shape and wants to trade for a wrapped 1LE hood with hext vents installed PM me. I will also throw in my tray collection.

Well thanks for the replies guys.

I just did this mod to my 13' RS and I'd like that fact that not only does it look cool but it will be functional on track days. Project 1LFXE is almost complete. lol

Here are some pics with everything installed including the rain tray. I'll be removing the rain tray for DD and track days. Just enjoying my handy work and checking for clearances the next few days.
