I recently did almost the same thing (though a bit less severe) in just the same spot when I hit a piece of concrete that had broken off a curb in my office parking lot.
I hadn't considered the splitter idea...hmm... |

I don't see you saying what the cause was.

Get a front splitter to cover it and have a nice looking mod as a bonus!!

I don't think a splitter will cover everything, but it will make any repair job you do look way less obvious.
In the meantime, hit it with a marker if you want. The spray bomb idea would work reasonably well also - whether you get a splitter or not. |

I think until you learn the dimensions of your car and where things are at--looks like an accident with a curb or high piece of concrete to me--then I'd say do a light repair job on it. Mask off the area with a line that will disappear into a reflection or with the natural curve of the bumper, sand the scrapes smooth, and rattle-can it with black GM spray in a bottle that matches your paint code.
Once you get comfortable with the car and the front end picks up a few rock chips, THEN, I'd look at getting the front bumper resprayed and re-cleared. To me, the damage is really minor. Painful to look at on a brand new car, but minor. Brush it off, don't sweat it. I think this two-phased repair approach (make it disappear..mostly...then, have it professionally resprayed later on) is a good one. |
