Can anybody photoshop this to look lowered? I'll reserve my comments until I at least see what it could look like!

You can bring it down and make it look good on 18-19" wheels. You'll need Pfadt Coil Overs with the adjustable body length for sure!
Those off-sets look incorrect in the rear also. If you're road racing or doing TT the 20"+ is way to big and heavy.... JP |

I would get the 19" if the right tire was made for them
need and can't get a 305/40 or 315/40, yet... how many potential sales would Nitto need to make us a tire? big, fat all season tires - 305 all the way around Last edited by BOBSS; 08-23-2009 at 01:36 AM. |

The problem with the tire profile in those pictures is there's nowhere to go to lower it; ground clearance is already too low. Smaller rims need taller profile tires so you don't bottom out all the time. I bet that car has trouble even going over speed bumps in a parking lot.

It looks similar to the SEMA GS car from last year. I think it had 18's and hoosiers on it, but they were pretty lo profile. Poor boys 3.73 final drive ratio

what tires are pictured here?
There's a thread in here about a set up with 305/30/19 all the way around. I'm waiting to see that |

Why does everyone dislike the 20s ? I think they look just fine, but no bigger than 22s. There is a large opening to fill.

Too may people are all bunged up about having too much weight with larger wheels sizes. Going in reverse isn't working here either. The car may perform better if your really going to push it or go racing. But The car looks bad. Even with 20's and the car lowered it still looks pretty crappy because the gap isn't even all around the wheel. Wide on the sides and thin on top. Somebody needs to produce the concept rims like it was meant to have in 21's and 22's. That profile tire on those 19's is all wrong.

I think it's also one of the reasons the car doesn't feel as fast as it's going. Those big wheels are bus wheels; for smooth, long distance cruising. The other night I was going around a slightly curved on-ramp to the freeway and I ran up the rpm's in 2nd. I wasn't looking at the speedo and as I merged into the lane I shifted into 3rd; would have sworn I was doing about 70 because that's how it felt and sounded. I glanced down at the speedo and was stunned that it said 89! I backed off immediately and learned a big lesson; don't trust how it feels...watch the speedo! The big wheels do the same thing as low gears in a trans; low rpms for cruising. The revolutions per mile of those big tires means they don't feel or sound as fast as they're rolling; the same thing when you're doing 70 in 6th gear and the engine is only doing about 1,500 rpm. Great for cruising; sucks for acceleration. How it looks in the wheel well is not my big concern. I'm not spending 40 g's so 16 year olds at the taco stand can say "ooh that looks bad ass" when I roll by. I'm looking at going 275/35-19 on tires and a 3-piece forged 19x9.5 rim all the way around. That combo should drop about 14 lbs of unsprung weight per wheel. It'll drop the car 1 inch. Removing that much unsprung weight will have the effect of removing 280 lbs of sprung weight. I want my car to MOVE when I push the gas pedal. It will stop quicker and handle better than stock too. And if I put a Pedder's setup on it, all the better.

Hey Doc!
I agree that all that weight is without a doubt choking acceleration. I disagree however about the,"feeling" of speed. The car is better insulated then any other US production car other then the cad that I can remember. This along with the stability/platform gives it a fabulous ride that gives the perception of moving slower. The trap numbers are pretty impressive despite the heft of this car. I love your last paragraph. LMFAO! Last edited by CGM2SSRS; 08-23-2009 at 08:44 PM. Reason: sp.correction |
