Thumbs up

If I do this recall, I will only take one key in. So I can still keep my switchblade key.

I've got 3 switchblades and I didn't take any of them or the car in for the recall.
I just dropped by the dealership one day and the service manager pitched me a bag with 2 new keys in it and told me that my recall was done.
I took them home and programmed them to my car. Now I have 3 switchblades and 2 recall keys and they ALL work.
I think he knew that if he knocked the roll pins out and removed the keys from the fobs, I'd just go home and put them back in.
So he figured......What's the point?

Chevy did not invent the switchblade key, the first ones I ever saw were for Audi and Volkswagon years ago.

because the ignition switch on the chevy's is mounted in a place and at an angle that could result in the key being turned to the off position if one of the following occurs:

the driver doesn't know how to properly adjust their seat and has it all the way forward with their knees up against the column.

the driver has a bunch of crap and b.s. junk on their key fob causing excess weight and due to the angle of the ignition switch can turn it off.

the bottom line is that instead of GM redesigning the ignition so that the key is tipped forward instead of UP when you start the car therefore making an accidental turn off impossible based on simple physics, it was cheaper to give customers a $hitty key and destroy their switchblade keyfob.

So all you have to do is chisel the plastic off the new style key, then insert the metal key into the switchblade part of the fob? I read a post where someone said there was a chip in the key? Not true?

I see. I was actually disappointed that the car had an ignition to begin with. I was expecting a push button start system that worked when the fob was in proximity. Like my old C6, or BMW.

Gen 6 Camaro is push button start.

takes GM 4-6 years to implement new technology after the rest of the world does.

GPS came out in 2003 and has pretty standard on most cars since 2007, in 2012 most GM cars still didn't even have GPS as an option.

Keyless doors/ignition has been out since 2007, GM is just now adding it to their 2016 models.

Bluetooth hands free systems been available in cars since 2005, GM didn't start adding it as even an option until 2010, they tried to force you to use OnStar cellular service at 10 times the rate of any other carrier.

--

GM has been behind in options technology for 15+ years, though to their benefit they have been at the forefront of engine advancements and technology.

If y'all weren't whining about that shit back then, we'd still be doing it

You can also go on eBay and have someone make the key part for you so you don't have to cut out the key. I am getting ready to order mine. I miss my switchblade.

you want to compare, ok

no one complained in the 1920s when they didn't have a key and had to crank start their car.

no one complained in the 1920s about not having seat belts, or a radio, or windshield wipers, or windows that rolled down.

no one in the 1920s complained about not being able to go 0-60 in 4 seconds or having a car that could even go over 25mph.

no one in the 1920s cared about power steering or power brakes.

Men were men in the 1920s.

technology advances at an astronomical rate, you either keep up with it or get the f--- out of the way and let those that can pass you.

GM and Chrysler saw first hand how trying to run their companies in the 21st century the same way they did in the 1960s worked out..

THEY WENT BANKRUPT.

this isn't the 1960s, this is 2015. stop living in the past..

I bought 2 key blanks on the internet for $9. Dealer cut them for another $10. Put them into my FOBs, and "Bob's your uncle!"

Dealer had no problem with the "reverse" conversion.
