I agree. Looks like a 1LE. Put the decals back on, it'll really pop.

IMO I would have done the whole thing flat black, Insert doesn't match in carbon.

Ok definitely it's either a hit or a miss. Maybe a matching spoiler would even out the matte black look a little? It won't help people who see a 1LE but could even out the front with the rear.
The original hood took some damage in traffic and had to be replaced. The carbon fiber insert (the ZL1 insert) was undamaged and costs $4500.00 so it is staying on the car. That eliminates aftermarket options for a really nice hood. My car is also a Nickey serialized car with a special carbon fiber stripe going down the side and, because a new hood would have to be matched in Red Crystal to the paint scheme already on the car, I'm not tearing off the stripe's to color match a new hood. The stripe's are part of being a Nickey car. You guys following me on this? Usually damage to your car is simply an opportunity to mod but this one had few options, at least for the short term. This is the car from the sides but the pics are from when it had a stock hood. ![]() ![]()

Not a fan of that new Hood or stripes usually but I understand your reasoning. That striping you have there is very nice.
Still I would of went with the original hood again, that is why we have insurance company's to pay for the damage. Just would of made them incorporate the cost of the striping to be redone as well. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk |

I appreciate your comments fellas! The car is going to be shown quite a bit in the near future so getting an idea of what kind of response it's going to get is nice to find out. Sort of a general idea of what people might say to me.
Can I possibly sway some of you with some new sunny day pics? Possibly? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like it, even thought i thought it was taking that cue from the 1LE.
I would also do the spoiler. I will say that i like the original paint scheme better though.

What would you think about going ahead now and paint the top between the seams and the trunk lid and rear spoiler flat black? Just wondering how that would look? That would take away the 1LE look and be more of a "custom" look, maybe?

I Like it with the lower sills being black I would try doing the spoiler. May look like its more ZL/E than ZL/1 but who cares I like it stands out.
