Well I had not heard from them yet today so I emailed them and asked how close they were to my offer. I have some room to move up but I'd like them to give me a figure before I drive an hour and a half to finalize a deal. If we're $7k apart and they won't budge then I'm not going to waste 3 hours of my Saturday. If we're close I'll hop in the car. If I don't hear back I'm the next hour I'll call the sales manager.

I would not wait an hour nor would I be emailing them. Saturday is always a very busy day.

CALL THEM NOW if you really want the car. You have a lot of other buyers who are competing with you for ths car and time is running out.

47K is a smoking deal on a ZL1...If your wanting top dollar on your car, you need to sell it to an individual...If its paid for then your not in any bind at the moment. Car dealers make most of their profit for used cars, so they want to get yours at a low cost and then sell it for high profit. You won't get what you want for your car from the dealer. You won't see a 20% off deal like this very often for their top of the line Camaro and Z28. You should take the deal for 47K for a new one. I paid 50K for a 13 with 9,500 miles on it (GM Exec car). People are scooping these cars up like candy right now. Hell a SS is about 44K....If you ever wanted a ZL1, now is the time to do it. Sell all the extras on CL and make your money back that way...

Well they got back to me. They say $33,500 OTD is what they can do.

This essentially comes out to MSRP - 20% cash back - $16k for trade/whatever discount they are offering on top of the 20%. I don't feel this is good enough as they are basically paying me $500 less than KBB for "good" condition vehicle without a warranty. Mine still has a warranty and two sets of wheels/tires that I told them I would throw in. I feel like that's worth something, and with the 20% cash back it is basically them selling the car at MSRP (at $2,200 profit plus holdback profit).

The GM Card credits would make it essentially $32k OTD. The highest I would go is $30k including the GM Card credits. I don't have to have a new vehicle, so I don't see why I should be paying above invoice on a 2014 model year vehicle.

I think I will see what they will do OTD as JamesZL1 recommends.

Well either way I hope you get it before you watch the ship sail away. I seriously doubt these deals will be this deep on the ZL1 and Z28 anytime soon. Don't miss getting a Z over a couple of grand at that price. No matter whats going on when you trade in a car, your going to get a little hosed. On the plus side though you dont have to sell it yourself or deal with private party crap if you dont have the time. If I was in your position, I would already be driving it home.

Have you seen the sales numbers for the new Mustangs??? They're proving quite popular!

Im not going to derail the OP, but yes I know. That said it is hardly prying the purists out of their previous gen. The new car except the GT350 looks castrated. My 5.0 friends are not happy with the redesign at all.

Do not give your dealer your wheels. If anything, you should strip the car of everything you put into it and give them it as stock as possible!

Most excellent. Be careful if it is cold. I am pretty sure you will be driving it home.
