I agree, you should complain to the Service MGR. At least you checked to find out what was done to your car.

Make them change the oil and add the extra quart that should have been added in the first place.

Good Luck. Let us know what happens.

Talk to the manager, see if you can at least get your money back. I would check with your local car clubs to see if they know someone that you can trust.

I would be upset also .........some lady at work had her air conditioner charged up and she went to pay and asked if he was a Super Mechanic because he could put in more than it required if it was completely empty.

I went to Burien Chev Dealer for my first oil change. They used 5w30 Syn in my V6, gave me the oil change for free AND filled it with gas for free. When I picked it up It had a full tank and a fresh oil change at no cost. And my window wash got filled. I would rec that dealer to anyone around that area.

No way am I defending the dealership but unless you are in a real cold climate 10w30 even though it calls for 5w30 is fine. The only difference is 5w30 flows better in cold temps than 10w30. 10w30 is a better all around oil in warmer areas for most all cars. Manufactures call for 5w30 mostly so there cars can be used all over the world and they only have to recommend 1 oil. There are some engines with extremely small oil passages in areas such as lifters where they need a thinner oil all the time. They usually recommend a 5w20.

What the heck, the neighbors already think I'm a crazy old lady with my new Camaro, washing it, dusting it, or wiping the bugs off on a daily basis, they might as well see me changing the oil!!

Would you take it back and ask them to redo it? Let it go and change it myself in another 500 miles?

I'm disgusted.
Ask to speak w/ the service manager. Don't let them take advantage of you. Thats BS and they should know what oil your Cam needs. Here's to doing the oil changes yourself. If you were my neighbor I'd join ya and offer you a beer!

PS my grama bought a brand new 1990 Camaro when she was 67. My grammy rocked

OK, I called and talked to the service manager. First I asked him to verify the number on the receipt is 10W30 oil. Then I asked him what oil is recommended for the 2LT, and he said he'd have to check, so put me on hold. After a minute he came back and said 5W30. So I asked him then why would they put 10W30 in my car. He didn't have an explanation, but he did say that with the temps we've been having in the 100s, it really does not make a difference. I told him I would have appreciated someone telling me this is what is recommended for your car, and this is what we put in and why.

They are making it up to me, and I can either bring it in now and they will change it, or they will give me a free one next time. And he agreed to let me watch them change it.

Thanks to everyone for your words of advice and support. I love this forum for all of the great information, and opinions, for free!!!

Oh, and I am going to start changing my oil myself.
