Further, I don't think that kind of discount is ever going to apply to a new order car, only something that someone has in stock. I don't know if there's going to be anything available that will match what I want at that point and I don't know that it's worth the risk.

I also know that GM have no problem having an older version of an elite car out while there is a newer version of the base car out there. Witness the CTS-V, which is still old spec now, even though the new model CTS has been out for a while. So I wouldn't be surprised if the ZL1 and Z28 are still produced as they are after the next gen Camaro is out, for people who want the high end pieces now. 1LE not so much. So the choices are buy one now, wait and see if there is a special and take a chance that there isn't anything, or wait, potentially for a long time for the new gen one. I might not like the new one as much anyway.

As to the size, I'm 6'3". My head was awfully close to the roof in a non-sunroofed car. 3/4" difference is going to mean a cricked neck in no time. Not keen. Roof is out. I've sat in a Z28, so I've felt the Recaros and they're tight, but they are pretty cool and I'm trying to lose a few pounds, so maybe that will encourage me...

RS PKG....Copied this from the GM website

High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, each ringed with an LED halo
Separate Daytime Running Lamps
LED tail lamps

I recommend getting the 2SS & RS options, you won't be disappointed, especially with the additional instruments in the counsel, "My Link" system, Boston Acoustics 6 speaker system, Color Information Center, Heads Up display & Rear Vision Camera.
Just saying...

I believe the RS package is around 600 bucks cheaper when ordered with the 1LE option. RS headlights and Taillights IMO look better to me than the non- RS. I loaded mine up 1LE 2SS RS NPP Recaro Sun NAV.

I just looked at my window sticker and there was no discount for the RS package when getting the 1LE Package!

Nope. As mentioned above, it's not, and it certainly makes one go hmmmmmmmmm in a very suspicious manner.

I'm looking at getting a new 1LE. I have a GM supplier discount and I have a few questions about the car. I'm completely new to the Camaro, but it seems like the best looking and best "bang for your buck" out there to me. On which note:

I'm going to get a 2SS 1LE probably in BVM and I think I'm going to get the exhaust upgrade (I have read back a few pages on the forum). I'm umming and ahhing about the Recaros. I'm quite tall and not thin and they might be a little tight, especially for a longer drive. I'm also thinking about the RS package, which brings my first question: Given that the RS package involves a wheel upgrade and spoiler and the 1LE package also involves a wheel upgrade and spoiler, is the RS package on top of the 1LE package cheaper than otherwise? It doesn't look like it based on the GM supplier website, but that seems a little odd to me. Can you get the HID headlamps and daytime running lamps any other way than the RS package?

Other things it looks like I should get based on what I read are rock guards (I assume this is the same thing as I would call mudflaps - I'm from t'other side of the pond) and a catch can. What is that and how easy is it to install it?

Anything else I should be adding on?

Thanks!
Got my '13 with NO RS because I wanted the matt black theme to continue on with the 1LE theme. I matt blacked the taillight surrounds and rear Anvil spoiler too, now it looks complete. I'm a DIY'er so HID would be way cheaper for me too . Ditto for the rear LED tails that I installed.

2SS is nice. Heads Up Display, Rear View Camera....nice ergonomic safety features. Power Leather and ambient light door panels nice touch too. Unless you want the weight savings associated without the 2SS option (non-power cloth seats and no HUD, (less wiring, etc)), you cannot go wrong with 2SS.

NPP is a must, unless you have an aftermarket exhaust on your radar screen already and zoning in.

If you are fat, do not get the Recaros, if you are slim and trim and love road race, get the Recaro option.

If you are tall, and plan to wear a helmet, DO NOT get the standalone sunroof option. I specifically ordered my 2SS with NO sunroof for this reason alone.

Paint Protection Film more important than mudflaps IMHO.
I have both on (flaps only in the front).

RS package includes the stupid chrome strip.
That's enough for me to not want it.

Indeed.

Unlike the '13, on the '14+, it should be reiterated you get the rear LED tails, and that wonderful front chrome strip, to let the world know, that you bling bling'd it a bit more in style .

I went with 1SS + 1LE + Dual Mode Exhaust + Back up Camera. It is all in what matters to you most. The back up camera is definitely worth it as a functional piece to make parking easier. If you get 1SS, pay the extra to add it, or if you go with 2SS you'll get it by default.

RS wasn't worth it to me since the 1LE parts take the place of most of the RS additions, wasn't a big fan of the chrome strip up front, and halogen headlights look fine to me, so I passed on that.

I actually prefer cloth seats to leather, so that's the main reason I went with 1SS over 2SS. That, and I don't need the HUD, which is the only other main difference I believe.

The best thing to do is sit down and figure out which features matter most to you, what you want most, what you are indifferent about, what you don't want, and option it to where YOU will be happy with it. It makes no difference what anyone else thinks, it is going to be your car. Although I will say, paying to get 1LE, and not getting the NPP as well would be a mistake unless you plan to go aftermarket exhaust right off the bat. The two go hand in hand to really complete the 1LE package.

2SS if you can't live without leather seats and a little hologram in the windshield

1SS if you prefer cloth seats and can add the four pack gauges for around $375 yourself.

RS on a 1LE only if you have to have the halo headlights. That is the only major thing it adds.

Sunroof if you're a fan of them, no sunroof if you want the style of the reverse mohawk in the roof.

Recaros if you can fit and can swing the price. I wanted these pretty bad, but then I realized they were leather seats no matter which trim you chose, and decided against it.

Just figure out what is going to work best for you, and go with that.

You are correct. I could of swore when I priced out a 2014 on Chevys order site the RS option dropped from 1950 to 1350 when ordering the 1LE. Maybe they changed things or I just misread the quote. Thanks for the correction.

Matching roof ditch molding color to your cars paint as well...
Factory tinted rear tail lights as well....
