does anyone think we will be able to just use the 2016 OEM parts on our prior year cars? Or is that not a possibility.

IF the next gen has it (right now it's just wishful thinking as it hasn't been stated if it will), it won't be plug and play as the 5th gen was not designed nor programmed with a push button start in mind. The only OEM part you could use would be the button, everything else would have to be custom.

Lol. If the next gen does not have today's texhnology it will fail. 5th gen was great performance wise...it's just the entire interior that needs work.

Cars with push button start are very easy to steal.

In college I had a 99 Dodge Ram and I thought the push button start in the Dodge Viper trucks were pretty cool so I bought the button from dodge. Used a multimeter and some wire cutters, electrical tape and some wire and redneck engineered me a push button start that worked haha. Spliced into the red wire under the steering column ran it too the 3 pronged switch and found a ground in the dash along with a 12v source (radio) which only comes on when the key is in the run position. Yes you have to have the key in but you don't have to turn it all the way. Key in, push button and truck started. It was more of a cool little "hey look what I installed" thing. You can probably do the same thing with these cars but you still need the key. Hell if a 19 year old frat boy with a major in beer pong and easy women can figure it out, I reckon it can't be too hard lol.

A push button start would be nice but it seems like a lot of work to do a retrofit.

Look into what the Chevy SS has. It's got an LS3 and a push start button. Maybe it'd be an easy fit?

Wow, some of you guys are dense....
http://www.advancedkeys.com/Prod_AK105B.html http://www.xpresskit.com/product.aspx?productid=553 here is the system running in MY CAR> https://youtu.be/PL62axHNnWs So, how about we get this back on topic, get all the haters in line for the bathroom so they can stop craping in here, and we answer the question. Does anyone know how to remove the ignition from the steering column. |
