What kind of deductible are we talking about? As already said there is only about $500 damage there so if the deductible is $500 or more you'll be better off not dealing with the insurance company.

Also another thing to keep in mind, the courts have ruled that the insurance companies are not responsible for deprecation value, the person at fault is, and only if you sale or trade the car within a set time frame (30-60 days depending on the state) after the incident. As such most insurance companies have stopped paying deprecation claims all together even if you lawyer up and take them to court because they are not legally liable.

No depreciation from a bumper. That's like saying if I put a SS bumper on, my car is worth less. You are better off seeing if they will give you a couple hundred bucks to have it painted than marking up your insurance record.

Well the wife made the decision to not go with the insurance. The tard that hit it had his lively hood on the line. (I told her to go insurance. Long story but the guy at fault is some kind of stupid) New bumper installed and painted along with removing the dent in the fender and alignment for a total cost of 1500. It's being covered by them after lots and lots of family drama and a I.o.u. Or two to several people not involved. I sware after this week I am staying in the house and drinking all weekend. Ugh.

She wants to trade in on a Cts sport wagon when it's paid off next year so no zl1 bumper.
But on the bright side that will be the end of me buying go fast parts two at a time……
