Well not really.....they were designed with a purpose. I do like the look. But I don't think they are needed on today's cars.

If you're going to sell the car In the next few years I'd go without them. Most people will not want them.

Hood pins came about decades ago for the purpose of unimpeded access to the engine compartment on race cars. Retainer clevis pins (two front, two rear) could quickly be removed and the entire hood would come of. It was also considered a safety feature in the days before hoods having the extra catch to keep them from flying off or blocking the driver's vision should a hood happen to open unexpectedly.

Today, hood pins are pretty much just for show unless you have them there to completely (and quickly) remove your hood. Unless you actually race you car, they serve no real purpose and actually look kind of silly... IMO.

Hood pins were not exclusively for lift-off hoods. Hood pins (one in each front corner) were used on the MOPARS with lightweight fiberglass hoods that were still hinged at the rear. With only the center latch, at high speeds the corners of the hood could lift/flutter, if they lifted enough and got enough air under it would tear the latch off and say goodbye to your hood! BUT before that they came into use on the old stock cars. Many off them would remove some of the under-hood bracing to save weight. Same as the MOPAR, had to keep the corners nailed down because if some air got under the lightweight hood and the latch gave it got hard to drive with your windshield covered by a hood! Later on they even ditched the whole hood latch and put a hood pin in the center also.
