Most dealerships, not all, but most just could care less about our cars. To them it's just a tin can. I for one would have the same reaction with a hand around his throat. I don't need the drama in my life and I know how I feel about my car so I avoid any unnecessary visits to the dealer and will do things as much as I can by myself

I hear ya. In and out / less than an hour with no appointment and I still in *max guard mode* There was only one moment of moderate panic when after the oil change my car went out of sight. Random thoughts crowded the soft stuff between my ears - " where did he go ?? " " test drive ?? " " a few clutch torture burnouts for his buddies ?? " I didn't hear anything and after a short while the car reappeared in the service line. Seems he just circled the entire building. *whew* lol. don't touch my car - crazy anxiety for me.

There she is, sitting all vulnerable in this drive thru area, I'm cringing watching people weave in front and behind her. I get this GREAT BIG guy, dirty guy writing up my ticket, and I about panic when I see him HEAVE himself into the driver's seat. Don't know how he got in with my seat settings, but he moved the seat back a LOT, then proceeded to start her up. Lurch forward, stop, lurch, stop, almost killed it three times, then lurched to a new location. My heart stopped.

I didn't say anything. I prayed. She lived through her first oil change without any damage. The car is a lot tougher than I am...
Why were you some worried about getting the oil changed at 1600 miles. It is under warranty and as long as you have it done when the computer tells you to then your all good. I used to be that change the oil every 3000 mile guy. Until I found out that the newer cars are getting better and smarter. So the computer is supposed to tell you when you need to change now. When I had my GMC Syclone, I ran synthetic in it and every time I would get it changed at 3000 miles. The tech would save the oil because it was still good. Synthetic oils last longer.

I read a LOT of threads about when to do the first oil change. I read everything from 500 to 1000 to 1500 to 3000 to when the percentage went to 20% or less. First oil change timing is a completely personal choice. My personal choice was after 1500 miles.

He pleaded his case saying it was all part of the service. I let him go (a great move on my part or I would be typing this from my cell) and he backed off saying sorry, sorry sorry. The service manager ran over and quickly yelled at him to go into his office. He (the manager) got another guy to do the change and insisited I move the car in and out of the bay. Before I left the dealership, the idiot was sent home....with a pink slip.
Several of the other workers came over to me saying that it was about time, they couldn't stand the guy and this wasn't the first time.
From now on, I am the only one allowed to drive it on thier property and they bend over backwards for me with all my cars.
I'm just glad I was there to see it, who knows what goes on when you're out of sight ??

Wow, same thing happened to me, I just didn't put the hand on the guy. He took my car out for a joyride and curbed the right front. Glad I cleaned the car before I sent it in for warranty work. He was sent home after he mounted and balanced the wheel. That was a Saturday. They fired him on Monday.

If only a representative from GM or Chevrolet would monitor this forum. Then maybe they could effect some change at these dealerships.

Oh wait...
