This test fleet 2009 ZR1 with 13k miles was $30k off...

http://www.corvetteonline.com/news/2...s-for-a-price/

Also from what I have been reading about ZR1 test fleet cars is they all have hard 10k+ miles...

"These CTF’s were pre-production test fleet ZR1’s used by Engineers and Corvette Management to put these ZR1’s through real world testing and evaluation. Many of these Super Cars were “enjoyed” (TESTED) at race tracks such as Virginia International Raceway and Road America in Elkhart Lake , Wisconsin over the summer, as well as many other venues. This important testing was done to see how the ZR1 would perform and hold up in the hands of its real world owners. Many of these ZR1s had over 10,000+ tested miles on them when they were sold at auction."

Congrats!

I don't care about the 10k miles....if the price was right I would buy it to...if fact....that fact that all those miles have been put on it and they put it out for sales with a warranty impresses me.

I bet this car drives better than the new Z/28's as it's broken in!

You shouldn't hesitate to add more miles and enjoy the car as you should, however!
I thought '14s were 97xxxxxx. The test fleet cars with the 96xx are actually pre-production from what Chevy counts. Either way, you have a cool car! Although it would be neat to know which mags tested it. Does your silver car have the nurburgring decal instead of the bowtie on the trunk???

It may have 10,000 hard miles. But the Z/28 was built to take punishment. Congrats!!

It all depends who had the CTF vehicle. It is a lot like buying a rental. Some rentals are fine. I know some people that have a rental rule -- you can't return it until it has been airborne -- one or two of those friends are GM engineers.

You bought a "new" car with some of the hardest miles you could do to a car. I hope it's history with GM pays off.

so if a CTF car is pre-production and have diff vin no's then what are they??

they can't be Z28's or else they would have same vin sequence no as the Z28 production cars

are they clones of some sort or just Camaro's with Z28 badges

why wouldn't GM pull some test cars from the regular production run to test them out?

all very confusing

From my understanding, they are from the regular production run. they come off the line first (in this case 96xxxxx) and then they restart the number at 9700001 when they decide they have enough CTF vehicles and want to start the production run.

Not 1 of 2 and 10k hard miles, we are a tough crowd. He'll be back. Maybe he has a cam/heads package going on the car.

If you were buying it for collectibility and as an investment, a 2014 or 2015 with 12 miles that is stored and driven very rarely will appreciate better.

This.

For crying out loud it's a z/28. If it can't handle being pushed then no one should want one. This is why the car companies love the high dollar car....you buy it and sit on it then sell it with 250 miles for a 30k loss.

Drive it. enjoy it. that is a sweet machine very few can afford. Few if any new cars will be collectable down the line.
