Just buy a new one, I ordered a new TB with a stage II port from Bo White, can't wait to install and since its a brand new TB no worries about where it's been or how long it's been in use.

I mean my TB I'm getting could be from a 2010 and have 300k miles on it for all I know. Anyone else had these concerns? Has anyone had any issues with the throttle bodies they've gotten and what happens if they fail? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.
I had a new (4000 miles) one so when I got my ported tb I paid the core and kept my original, just in case

We haven't had any issues that I can recall with the LS3/L99. Longevity is as good as OEM as nothing internally gets altered; basically only material gets removed.

That said, we do offer the new option for those who want it. I generally recommend the used as there is truly no difference, but the main reason we offer the new option is for those with new cars and/or we had to replace a core in our batch that was never returned. So we'll buy a few new ones and send them to VMAX to be ported.

Best regards,

Tyler

I've seen them fail a couple of times.

Another thing you run into with DBW TBs is it can be a little weak or off from the factory and the ecu can easily compensate until it's ported. With an aggressive port there will be a few that were too far off or weak for the ecu to compensate for it still.
