Thanks for saving me all the typing I have a 5.3 /4l60e in my 1997 TJ and an LS1 swap in my 1969 Camaro. I only did those swaps because l couldn't go buy one from the factory.
Just be patient and find your SS.

Damn you just won in convincing me not to now. I just assumed some things you'd have to do not this huge list

Being in Winnipeg, you have the Murray auto group, which has numerous dealers throughout the country that can get any used car in their inventory transferred to Winnipeg, saving time in driving to find one somewhere. That's basically the route I took to get mine, went to local dealer with a few options I had found, and we narrowed it down to what we thought was the best one, and had everything ready to sign the moment the car showed up here.
I actually got mine at Murray as well so it's possible I can trade it in for one say in Edmonton? My first car I ever bought so I don't know too much about how things work.

And if I can only find one in automatic, will it void warranty if it's changed to manual?

Yes it will and doing this won't be cheap or easy either. The computers are programmed different and they use different wiring harnesses. You'll drop some serious cash to do this, it's not as cheap as swapping one manual trans for another.

Depends on your area but here a good quality paint job to change a cars color runs around $10k. There is more painted on a car than just the exterior, you have the door jams, engine bay (which requires engine removal), trunk and probably a couple more areas I'm not thinking of.
