I have the eliminator bracket like 1LE 2NV.
The bonus is that you can release the plate and bracket from the grill or replace it without tools. Nothing hangs down below the splitter. Works Great |

Here in Utah, we're a front plate state, but it's pretty loosely enforced luckily.. I have resisted installing my air brake kit but I keep the plate and mount in the trunk. Probably should get one of these kits so I don't end up driving the screws into my bumper on the side of the road while an angry UHP trooper stares at me.
Front plates here are literally about 50% so it would be difficult for them to single you out, but not impossible. Personally, I don't get the big deal other than another reason to write tickets. |

It's weird. Here in NY, you almost never see Corvettes running front plates. And when I bought this car at the end of last year, I had purchased it out of state, and wound up driving about a month with no registration, no inspection, and only a single 'transport' plate on the back. Must have passed 10 state and local cops, and none of them even gave me a second glance.

I just tie strapped a cheap plate holder i found at O'Reillys and placed it a little lower on the grill. No holes and i added painters tape as a layer between the bottom grill and the holder.

I haven't had a front plate on any of my cars for over 12 years. Even though it is required it is rarely enforced. My front plate is in my trunk right now. My last vehicle was a 2004 Nissan Titan crew cab 4x4 that I bought new. Never put the front plate on that either. They gave me a bracket but again the plate and the bracket sat under my drivers seat the whole time I had the truck. I'll just keep taking the ticket for it before I put the bracket on.

As of right now, I've tie strapped my front plate and OEM plate holder similar in position to what 'homewrecker' has shown above. The lock ties extend out the sides from the plate holder in my case, so it is not going to win the pretty award. I did already have a situation where one of my lock ties failed (fortunately at less than 10 mph) and the plate holder scraped the ground.
My question is, is there any radiator or tranny cooler air flow area that is covered up when the front plate is positioned as shown in homewrecker's photo above? Thanks in advance for the replies. Trying to figure out my preferred long term solution; and I don't want to drill holes.... |

Great question, I had it on for over a year and i drive monthly from San Diego to LA , about a 220 mile round trip. During the last heat wave where temps approached 115 degrees, i had to drive to the desert at least 10 tines from LA, added nearly a 1000 miles and the temperature stayed constant and barely fluctuated. I don't even think about it. It'll be fine. But... i didn't use the oem bracket. It was a little bulky and i didn't want to scratch that area. I bought a cheap plate holder, its smaller, the bracket is about the same size as the plate and barely protrudes. I'll take pics of the side profile of the bracket and plate. There's tons of room down there and the air that's flowing in is more than sufficient.

As you can see its less bulky than the oem holder. The profile is a lot slimmer and the cheap $5 bracket fits perfectly in that opening. The top grill and what's left of the bottom grill thats not blocked from the plate allows enough air to flow. No drill, no holes, and completely removable. The plate is black but when taking pics with a flash it shows up green...i guess for law enforcement.

I'm in IL, another front plate state. There are always people that don't run the front plate and "never had an issue", the same with tinted windows. But I'd rather not deal with the hassle if/when it does occur (which is usually at the most inconvienent time).
Anyway, I'm using the JacFab as well. |

In Texas as well. Do not run a front plate 99.9% of the time with no issue. I did install a STO N SHO for those few times that I do. I like the fit and easy to put on/take off. It is low though so may not be a "daily driver" addition. I keep the plate in the trunk for those "Sorry officer, I took it off to ____ and forgot to put it back on" moments.

Thank you very much homewrecker, for posting the additional pics and info. - it is truly useful. Seems like there are at least three good options out there now - JacFab, Eliminator, and homewrecker/O'Reilly. One of my bigger concerns is which option(s) will actually stay in place over the numerous road bumps and potholes caused by the weather up here.

Your welcome, just go with jfab or the eliminator for piece of mind. I used at least 6 to 8 heavy duty tie straps and that thing is not going anywhere. And if it does come off then I'll just drive without a plate...the way it should be anyway! Let us know what you do and post pictures.
