shell 93 and mobil 93 preferably from a high volume station with newer tanks. places with slow traffic, old tanks or that cater to the 87 crowd could have premium with a water and crud hazard...
coolest time of the day is best and NEVER when the tanker truck is present.

As far as the everything here in the DMV area there are s crap load of Sunocos and Shells, Sunoco never has done me wrong, but before I moved up here near DC I really never seen them so I was not sure of them. I do like the fact that 3 miles away from my house I can get 100 octane at the local Sunoco. The guy even carried higher octanes but I believe they may have been leaded.

My 12 v6 manual mentioned "Top Tier Fuel" gas stations so my neurotic self only goes to Mobil since they're on the list and pretty cheap near me usually

Chevron is my # 1 choice, but Shell and Texaco are also top tier. We have a Maverick around the corner from our shop and we CAN tell a difference when customers fill up there vs Chevron. Just like the tuner told you, we can see knock retard with maverick fuel and can not add as much timing as we typically can with better fuel.

Most of the time Mobil, BP as a back up.

Which ever I am near and that has a good price when I need it. If they have some or any pumps "out of order," I assume it could mean the tank is low and I don't get gas there. I only need gas maybe once a month or so though, as cars are rotated.

We aren't supposed to use E85 in our ZL1s.

I have already read on past forums I've been on that Shell is the best. So I just went with that. I always use Shell and the same Shell station right by my work. Never had any problems with bad fuel. I had a BMW 335i tuned for 93 octane and always filled it with Shell and never had an issue with knocking or anything like that.

Stations that pump gas fast! If it's got 93, I'll buy it. I've never noticed a difference in gas, ever.
