I went through the same issue, I asked 3-4 dealerships around here if that was possible. I am not willing to buy a car I can't get to drive. So I actually rented a 2SS from Avis last week, only 3k miles on it and I got to have a "test drive" for 24 hours...$80 in gas later I am sold on buying a 2SS now. Including gas and $30 insurance I think I spent a little over $200. Really well worth it imo, plus I got to beat the snot out of the car without a salesman yapping in my ear the whole time. My wife also got to log plenty of time driving it making it wife approved also, which makes buying it that much easier.

I wouldn't be afraid of being beat up, i'd be afraid of wrecking it.

OR it could be a HUGE mistake and I could HATE it!!

but, given the feedback here...that seems HIGHLY unprobable. besides i loved my dads 3rd and 4th gens...

my advise is, faith. haha, and to let the vicarious experiences we gain through camaro 5 help you.

People who buy the car "don't care how it drives."
uh sure.

If the tell you that you can't test drive it, simply respond with "well, if you don't offer test drives, then I don't offer my money and business... goodbye" and go somewhere else

I don't want to plan on ordering a car, waiting for it to come in (and research mods) for something I can't stand driving. Ive been underwhelmed by plenty of cars and I didn't want to build something up for months and months only to be let down and walk away from it after all the hassle. Sitting in a seat and seeing how it looks in a showroom is all well and good, but knowing how comfortable the seats are after a 2 hour car ride, and how big the blindspots are, how well all the gadgets work, or how well it accelerates, brakes, handles are only a few of the things I want to know before I spend 35k. Frankly driving it around the block doesn't even do the car justice, spending the whole day with it was what convinced my wife that she wanted one too.

I didn't have any problems test driving a camaro. The dealer threw the keys to me and told me not to get a ticket. Drove it a few miles down the interstate and brought it back, but it didn't have everything I wanted so I decided to order one.

Yeah I have not yet been able to test drive one. Whenever I ask them if they have one available for test drive, they always say that the ones they have at the dealership are sold already....total bummer

there is a difference between just walking in asking for a test drive and pulling up your credit figuring out you loan application showing proof that you can afford the car getting everything in line as if your are in fact buying the car, then if you can do that and they approve you they will let you go for a test drive to make real sure you want to make the commitment then you go back and sign

at no point will you ever be made to sign the contract before you get a chance to drive the car
