How much dollar value is the RS Package worth on a used Camaro?
Hey guys, post #1 here for me. I've been lurking since 2009 and been a big Gen 1-4 guy for past 20 years and have now decided it's time to move to Gen 5.
I'm looking at 2013 1LEs and want one with RS but strangely I'm finding a lot more of them without RS. Being that the seller's asking prices are about the same for cars with and without, what realistically is the RS package worth so I can attempt to negotiate said amount off of the Non-RS car? I was thinking about the cost it would be to upgrade one roughly $1600-2000, am I withing reason here? Even though I'm adding RS to a car lets say, down the road is that a dumb idea? To me it border's taking a 4th gen Z28 and upgrading it with SS parts. It's still just a Z28. However in this case that may not be the same with SS/RS vs. SS upgraded with RS as it's all appearance and not performance related. Looking for your guys thoughts and experience here with the pricing of these cars and thoughts on car's upgraded after with RS vs. stock. I want to get a 1LE asap but want to make sure I'm getting the right car for the right money. Over analyzing probably but any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

I have a 2014 Camaro 2LT RS and I think this is how it is:
"2LT" is a trim and you get leather, 4 pack gauges, heated seats, Heads Up Display, back up sensors. “RS” is I believe is optional appearance package which has Halos or LED taillights, front wheels are 20x8 with Pirelli 245/45 ZR20 tires while the back wheels are 20x9 with Pirelli 275/40 ZR20 tires. I also have the My Link Radio with navigation which I am not sure if that’s with the 2LT or RS package? |

I'll add that if you are wanting the RS package bad enough to ask about it here, then you better hold out until you find one. If not, you will always regret it... especially each time you see a RS car. There is a 2013 red 2SS/RS 1LE somewhere in the USA that is for sale. Try searching on the net. It's worth a plane ticket and long drive home to get what you want. You'll be glad you did it. Especially a couple of years down the road.
Plus, if you settle for less, I PROMISE you will find the exact car you wanted, at a great price, about ten minutes after you buy the other one.

Very true, I spent 4 months searching for ours, ended up finding the exact car we wanted a couple hundred miles north of us.

The My Link with navigation is an additional option that is not part of either package.

Just go to KBB and price the same car with and without the RS package. Should give you a rough ball park of what to expect.

Originally I was going to order a 2LT without the RS package. I found a 1LT with the RS package I'm glad I got it. It really does make a difference in looks and it's worth the price of the package.

You guys are right, I had my husband do the research for me.
I told him I wanted a 2014 or 2015 because the body style change, lights and grill. Had to be Summit White with leather with wider wheels on the back then front. He tells me you want a 2Lt, RS which are out there but Summit White may take a while to find pre-owned. Well took 3 months but he found "2", one in Wisconsin and one in Philadelphia. Both from dealers, both with clean car faxes and both with extended warranties. Both had similar stories trade-ins for Corvettes, don't know how true that was? Anyway after haggling on price we took a ride down to Philadelphia and I got my baby! The internet is great, do you how how many pictures of both cars I got and the research, I'm real happy. |

Don't settle for a non RS car, you will deeply regret it. If you try to convert a non RS to an RS you will be knee deep in work and money.
