IMO With all the recent hype I can see them axing the ZL1 and keeping the Z/28 on top. I would think this move would involve some type of street friendly refinements for the Z/28. Or even like the new Mustang, street and track ready versions.

I don't think we will see both models return but we may. IF only one returns, I believe it will be the ZL1 but it is very possible that GM may ax the ZL1 moniker and rebadge it as the Z/28, adding a track package for those who want a hardcore track car.

The $75K Camaro is not selling. No surprise there although it is an incredibly awesome machine. I would love to have one but not at those numbers.

My guess, and it's just that....a guess, is a new ZL1/Z28 would incorporate the C7 Z06 motor with all of the options that come on the Z06. Take the lighter Alpha platform, put 650hp in it, with the new interior and aggressive ZL1/Z28 specific styling additions and I think folks would line up. Seemingly minor things like a different hood, front splitter, different spoiler, bigger tires and ZL1/Z28 only wheels make the car look more badass. There might also be something extra GM thinks up to add to entice folks to spend $20k more than an SS? Another guess....we won't see it for 2 years.

A car like that would definitely sell - IF the price is comparable to the current ZL1 with options to spec it out (think Z07 Ultimate Performance Package) to Z/28 Track spec.

But another $70K Camaro will die on the vine.

Yah, I also agree a new zl1 won't be come out for another year or 2. As for the 1le I don't think they are going to bring back since the 6th gens are far improved from the 5th Gen even the 1le. But hey I could be wrong and they can introduce a new 1le with even better handling. And for the z/28 I'm not sure, they might bring it back but it wouldn't be right away just like the zl1. But Chevy needs to make a beast that can take down the Hellcat and Shelby!

We'll with everything being said I'm buying my self a used ZL1 soon, I love the current ZL1 it looks amazing like a true muscle car. I see the new ZL1 looking way more euro and less muscle. I can get a used 2013 ZL1 with 1k-10k miles for 44k its crazy!

Of course there going to come out with a new ZL1, and I bet you anymore it will have a mark up when it comes out. It will probably have over 700hp+ and it will be a huge hype and they'll ask for a 10k mark up.

I agree, the 2017 shelby gt500 is rumored to have 740hp +. Its going to be the first Muscle car that uses a Twin Turbo stock. The test is to see if the 2017 ZL1 will break 740hp?

My question is when will the hp war stop, once you get into the 800hp-900hp range on stock cars that cost 60k thats insane!!

My two cents.....

Ok, which moniker has been more popular through GM history ?

Z28 or Zl1 == Winner z28
First gen was the only zl1 sans fifth gen

we have on the table carbon brakes, fatter tires, an LT4 now... can they put the lt4 in this chasis? the ats-v doesn't have it. The CTs-v does so does the z06 diff platforms.

and where is the twin turbo v8 ?

who knows...\

My story though.... I have 3 kids and stretched for this car , I have just north of 600hp...that is enough for me as it is my daily driver.

No. The 1LE was first offered in the 2013 model year.

Remember there is also a rumor of a wide body gen6 Camaro. That would give a more aggressive look and enough tire to hook more than the LT4's 650 HP

SS parallels Stringray
1LE parallels Z51
Z/28 parallels Z06
ZL1 and ZR1 TBD but a wide body would fit here

I think its safe to say that Chevy is planning a super camaro down the horizon; Whether they name it ZL1 remains to be seen.

They also had the 1LE option in a few years of the 4th Gens too didn't they?

Yes.

They had the "factory GM" 1LE option on the 4th gen up until the 2000 or 2001 model years. SLP provided the 1LE content thereafter.

The 3rd generation Camaro also was available with 1LE option , but I'm not certain it was available for all years.
