I had both a '11 GT500 and a '12 Boss 302 prior to the Z. I was not a big fan of the Shelby as it was hard to put the power to the ground with narrow rear tires and 3.73 gears. The Boss was a great car and there are time I wish I still had it. With that said, the Z runs stronger than either Mustang and is more confidence inspiring in corners. I also feel like the Z is more solid and will be less prone to rattles.
I, too, am considering going back to Ford when the GT350s become more redially available. I like high reving NA engines and the new GT 350 is a good looking car. The big factor will be if my '15 ZL1 will stop dropping like a rock in value. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will still be worth somewhere in that $40k range at the end of the year. |

Most notable differences for me:
However there is one negative of the ZL1 I can mention. While visibility was a problem in the GT500/Mustang, it's worse in the ZL1. A backup camera in this car is a godsend for parking! I enjoyed my GT500 a lot. However, unless you're coming from a '13/'14 GT500 (there were a lot of changes for 2013), the ZL1 is nearly a better car in every way.
