Chevron or Shell 87 octane...I'm chemically intercooled (H2O/Methanol injection), so my effective octane is 110.

I have explained this before and will explain again. To make a long story short, Most gas comes from the same place. I have worked in many a refinery and am working in one now. It's a
Frontier refinery.
Funny I never see a gas station called "Frontier". It's just a generic refinery. Texaco, Chevron, and ALL other brand names will get their gas from the same supplier then put their additives in it that change octane, color and odor, but the gas comes from the same place.
Because I know this, I buy my gas wherever the lowest price is.

I know they all come from the same place have known this for years. Just stating that where I buy gas uses what is considered top tier. Alot of people cant believe I get gas from a grocery store. I laugh when they tell me they paid more for 87 octane gas at a Shell than what I paid for 93 at a grocery store.

I always try to fill up with 93 octane from Shell or Chevron. A friend of mine is a GM service tech and he recommended these because they add Techron to their gasoline to keep the injectors clean and free flowing.

My Dad was a VP at Texaco for 23 years and he said the same thing that you just said. The gasoline base stock is the same for 95% of all gas stations of a particular region.

That said, he also told me that there is a SIGNIFICANT difference in the end product that you pump into your vehicle. That difference is due to the quality and quantity of the additives that they put into the fuel. In other words, there IS a big difference between Mom & Pop gas that just pumps what they buy from you, and a top tier gas that has modern additives.

Chevron Premium (93) here, it has been the best performing, and mileage of any other I have tested on all my vehicles.
