I think you are in a bit of a bind on your cash flow but if it was me I would not trade. You are going to have to figure in your tag and taxes on this new mustang so how many payments will that take at a 150.00 a month? Now your insurance will be higher I would think because it is new so figure that in. About gas mileage what are you going to get, maybe 2 or 3 more miles per gallon? My ZL1 has been getting 18 to 19 miles a gallon if I drive it right. It all boils down to what you want to do so if you do trade you can always say you used to own a ZL1 but you might ad to that, I sure wish I had it back!

I think you are in the wrong forum, you need to move it to a financial consultant, so maybe in the future you will be better equipped for life's decisions. If $150 is going to make difference in you lifestyle, I am thinking Honda Accord or or Focus, or ECO.. until you build a little momentum.. Why would any owners of ZL1's suggest to you it's good ideal to swap a Z for basic Mustang

So your going to trade a 3012 ZL1 in for a Mustang that is 997 years older and your only going to save 150! Sounds crazy to me, but hey GO FOR IT.....

Smh this post made me nauseous and im worse off for reading it. Buddy, if the roughly $2000 a year you will save in payments/gas will make that much of a difference then more power to you. Personally i go for the theory of working harder to get more of what you want rather than staying in the same place and just getting by, but thats me. Keep in mind that just based off the car and not your driving record, you will not save any money on insurance. I can guarantee that if you get that Mustang the very first time you see another ZL1 you will suffer overwhelming and emasculating testicular pain.

Do not let a car drive you under water with money. Its not worth it. Get the mustang and get the monkey off your back. you will sleep better. Do not let the more money than brains club influence you.

I agree with not letting a car payment drag you down. Thats just not smart. But in that sense, if i was having to get rid of my pride and joy muscle car to save money, i would not replace it with a brand new muscle car. Id get a used civic or equal. If you have to have a muscle car then get something a little older to keep from taking that initial depreciation hit. I understand the pain. I had to sell my 01 SS 470rwhp NA in 2011. I drove a 95 saturn for a few years until i was in a better place when I picked up my Z. Just my .02
