This is kind of off topic but what exactly happens when you stall your car? does it just stop or what? lets say for example you were going 65 on the freeway and you stalled your car what would happen? vs going 40 on local? Thanks again! ^^
you'd really have to try awful hard to stall at 65
stalling typically happens at low speeds when rpms are too low to keep the engine running. yes, you will stop if you leave it in gear, so just press the clutch & it'll keep from 'locking up'

You can grind it at speed but not stall it. I shift to slow down but not all the time. I am not an expert and can't give any facts but I've never had any problems. I do it when I feel like it otherwise just shift to neutral and brake.

for everyday driving, just use the brakes. they're much easier & cheaper to replace if you do it wrong or too much

haha ok new scenario.... what iff you were in traffic and you started going lets say 40 miles per hour and then the cars seemed like they were going to stop so you put the car in neutral and continued to brake.. but then the cars start to move forward again before you have a chance to stop all the way would you have to:

A. stop all the way and start from first
B. just shift back into the appropriate gear which matches your speed
C. Other

Thanks for all the info again guys!

that's downshifting, just without the engine braking aspect of it
