That is less than an hour of work. Pulling intake is nothing. 2 vacuum hoses, fuel disconnect, TB coupler, and some bolts. Then pop off the valley plate. Super easy.

Ya good point, I'll have a go at it in the morning.

It is, no change. Although I have not had the engine running for very long since I found the ticking.

Did you recently did any work on your car it could be an exhausts leak or a miss firing cylinder

The only hopes I have are to make it to Cfest this year. What ever the problem is with the car I will deal with.

Pulled the valley plate, everything looks good, normal wear.

The noise you're hearing sounds like a collapsed lifter you won't be able to tell unless you put pressure on the rocker arms, A rod knock would have a low clunking noise, the noise in the video sounds like a lifter, Quick easy way is to turn your engine by hand (with a long breaker bar) until both rocker arms are up (i.e. flat side of the cam no lift) you will have to do one cylinder at a time, then you can check the lifter by pushing down and pulling up on the Rockel warm and pushrod to see if you get excessive slop, next way the way I would do it, you would have to put your valley pan and intake back on pull the valve covers off (One side at a time) and start the car and push down and pull up on the rocker arm to see if the tone changes while the car is running you would probably also have to put a towel over the arms so they don't shoot oil all over the place, I know it sounds like a fun process but with the valve cover off and the engine running, you will find the culprit.

I used a broom handle to listen at the valve covers for the ticking to be more pronounced at one point vs the rest. Couldn't hear anything that was definitive or find any point on the heads that I needed to look at first. Another reason I am thinking bottom end. I agree it sounds like valvetrain to me too, but as of now I am budgeting for a forged 416 either late summer or fall. My plan was to later this month install my zl rear, and upgrade my fuel system, then turn up the boost and see how long it was going to last. This just pushes things up sooner. Tomorrow I'll put the car back together, I might do what you suggest, charge the battery and listen to it again.
