If the CEL has been coming on why haven't you gotten the codes checked or taken it to a dealer? Unless I misunderstood the car didn't want to start or had problems the second you tried to leave the dealership... I would've left it there for them to figure out.

I did have the dealer check it. There was no CEL, just the stabilitrak and reduced power mode. They did check it out and said it was a hick up. I picked her up and drove back with her on Saturday. Not Friday. I couldn't leave the car there, since I had to be in Tampa the next day. I got to Tampa late Saturday night, so the dealers here were already closed, and guess what, no service dept open on Sundays. I'm going to try to take it in today. If I had the luxury of a local dealer in Germany who would have worked with me I could've ordered from there instead of having to do everything here in the states. Too bad GM doesn't support folks overseas, which left me with having to order in the states.

2015 service manuals I don't think are out yet. Helminc.com is the place. They are not cheap but golden when you need them. I have the 2013 set...

So I made it to Fermen Chevrolet in Tampa this evening. Let me first say that those guys are awesome. My car won't be fixed until tomorrow, but they found the culprit. They said that this is an issue that happens on other vehicles as well. Bad battery. They ran a test on it and found that it had dead cells. The CEL that was on was for " loss of communication between ecm and pcm" which the techs said that was what they thought it was before even checking the code. I showed up 15 mins before closing. I had planned to just drop off my car and let them work on it tomorrow. But when I got there, they checked her out right away. They stayed late to tell me the problem. The service tech even tried to get a loaner for me so I would have transportation, but since it was after closing, the person responsible for loaners had already left for the night. The battery test takes about 45 mins, which is why they couldn't finish it tonight. They have to have the print out from the test before the parts dept will give them a replacement under warranty. I go back tomorrow right after work, and they will get everything taken care of for me. The guys went above and beyond my expectations. I just hope that fixes the issues. I'm pretty sure that it will.

Well....took it back and the battery tested good. So they dug a little deeper and found that the ECM was flaky and needs to be replaced. Luckily for me they have one on the way that should be here tomorrow. So hopefully all goes well and I'll be driving her again soon. I still am very happy with the service I got from Ferman Chevy. They even gave me a loaner camaro for the time mine is in the shop. I am really disappointed with GM and the issues I am having with my brand new car. Supposedly they changed the ECM for the 2015's. The replacement is different? I wonder how many other 2015's are having this similar issue...

You probably just happened to get a bad battery out of the bunch that led to fangling up the ECU. Luckly you found an upstanding dealership that will take good care of you.

Well, finally got the old girl back. Running great. So far no problems. I hope it stays like that. Ferman Chevrolet service dept is just awesome. They did everything they could to make sure my car got back on the road.

Same exact thing happened to my brother in law with his new '15 ZL-1. First the dealer replaced the battery but it happened again. Then they reprogrammed the current ECU and it is working well now.

Glad to hear yours is working too!

Everything is a computer anymore. That makes fixing a car a headache but now we get 16-25 MPG out of a 400+ HP car. Better than the old 7 MPG days of the 60's.

Wow... Glad I've found this thread. I picked up my 2015 ZL1 this past Monday (3 days ago) and just started having this issue today. The car would just not start. After many attempts it finally starts.

I'm towing it tomorrow to my dealer and having check the battery and ECU.

Thanks for posting your solution, hopefully this is what works for me.

Just an update on my brother inlaw's ZL-1. After the dealer reprogrammed the ECU, it worked for a couple of days but then it started acting up again. He found that when he put the key in and turned it to the on position but waited for the dinging to stop in the car that it would start without an issues.

The dealer is now going to replace the ECU. Hopefully this fixes the problem permanently.
