Same here. The Ls7 even makes driving to work enjoyable, just wish I had a longer commute sometimes.

Q: Why would any rational person pay ~$60,000 for a ZL1 when they could get a Z/28 for the same price?
A: Because they haven't driven one, and they buy the hype that the Z/28 is ill-mannered on the street.

I have not seen a Z28 for 60K and I am a rational person.

Is that total out the door with a/c?

With A/C, does not include sales tax.

and you think they weren't dealing on ZL1's?

I love the Z/28 and wanted a LS7 badly. I felt I couldn't afford to maintain the carbon ceramic brakes (and they weren't dealing yet as the first ones were a few months out).

Add Tax, license and doc fees = 10% of sales price, that's 67K.
The lowest priced Z28 is 69K (California) plus fees would equal 76K.

Agree! It's not at all ill mannered on the street. Poorly maintained streets will give you a pretty bumpy ride due to the Z's track minded suspension, but even an SS will give uncomfortable road feedback under those conditions.
Would I drive this to work everyday? No. Because I don't want some moron dinging it up in the parking lot. I have a car for DD that isn't worth 65k.

I don't consider sales tax part of the price of the car. It's just incidental to buying one (in my eyes).

To be clear, I am not knocking the ZL1 - it's a great car! To me, it's not as good a value as a ~$60K Z/28. YMMV and your opinion may not be the same as mine. And that's okay!

I test drove a Z51 Stingray and ZL1 Camaro, and I owned a 2015 1LE before I bought my 2015 Z/28. None of those three cars can hold a candle to the performance of a Z/28. The Stingray has a much better interior and technology, but the performance felt totally underwhelming... And I really wanted to like the Stingray.

I do agree that the Z/28 is a tough sell, but from my POV it has nothing to do with Stingrays or SS's. I think all of the marketing as a track-only car has scared potential buyers off.

Q: Why would any rational person pay ~$60,000 for a ZL1 when they could get a Z/28 for the same price?
A: Because they haven't driven one, and they buy the hype that the Z/28 is ill-mannered on the street.

As most people that have driven one know, it is a great car on the street. No more harsh than the C6 Z06 that I owned previously. If anyone is on the fence, buy it. But only if you enjoy waves, thumbs-ups, and endless questions everytime you drive it...

But it is a track car. So the marketing is accurate. The problem is, the potential customer base. Track rats? You've got rich guys who think it must not be that great of a race car. Afterall, to them, it's just a hot Camaro. They're looking at the latest Porsche or Ferrari, or whatever $200k euro car is fresh. On the other end of the scale are guys who can afford the Z28, but don't want to spend thousands every time it needs brakes. They end up buying a 1LE and tuning it. Which leaves a niche of wealthy muscle car lovers who want a track car, want a Chevy, and love the heritage of the Z28 and aren't scared of high mantainence costs. That's a small category.

You want to sell a bunch of them? Dodge did it right with the Hellcat. They provided massive HP in a comfortable package and they are selling like hot cakes. They can't produce enough to fill demand. It's probably what GM should've done with the Z28 if sales were the goal. Maybe that's what they'll do with the new Gen6 Z28, if we ever get one.

I'm not down on the Z28. I love it and wish I owned one. I'm just responding to the thread, which questions why Z28's are still sitting on dealer lots. I think it's obvious. It's a great car, but not an easy car to sell.

Shark72.........are you saying the cheapest Z/28 Cali is $69k.

Ouch I thought CT was a tough market.

Couldn't get a decent deal here either but when your shopping for this car you should be shopping the entire country.

I only wanted an AGM with A/C. So I had to work the Internet and phone. A while back someone posted a dealer in Idaho or something place like that and they had like a dozen in stock.

Tax is a bitch 7.5% luxury tax in CT car over 50K

I have a black 2015 for that price with 81 miles on it. I have taken the hit on all of the taxes etc and that will save you a bunch of cash because the car is considered "used" and not new.
