I don't know about that. What happens when you take a wash mitt to your car? You rub dirt around to loosen it, sure the soap is supposed to act like a lubricant but damage still does occur however minutely. Wash your car every other day and you're going to spend more time washing waxing polishing than enjoying the car and only damaging it.

Personally I wash my cars infrequently as possible. Reason being first of all it's a car it will get dirty. Secondly the less I touch the paint with anything but water and a soap spray I feel the better. It's not important to me to keep the car showroom clean, as long as it looks decent that's good enough for me. Then the rare times I do actually use a wash mitt it looks like brand new because the paint hasn't been subjected to many rubbings with a wash mitt, no swirls, no streaks, just new looking paint.

Touchless car washes aren't a bad thing, good ones anyway that filter the water and soften it. They just spray on soapy water then rinse it off without ever touching the paint with anything else. Does pretty good for a quickie clean up. The ones that kill paint are the ones that use the brushes or the plastic things that whip around.

Ever wonder why there is soooo many car wash products? Because they sell! People have been led to belive the car's paint will somehow fall apart if not washed frequently. Pretty good sales scheme really. I said this in another thread about our 2003 Tahoe. I think I've only washed it like 5 times by hand in all those years. The paint still shines like new without ever waxing it and just spraying it off. Not a swirl mark or scratch anywhere.

Personal choice I suppose, I got better things to do than wash and wax my cars every other month.

Take a zip lock baggy, place your hand into it.. and slowly and lightly rub your hand across some parts of the car. (hood as an example)

If you feel tiny little bumps then yes, the car needs major care. (clay bar to remove rail dust etc.)
If it is smooth as silk and you can't find any bumps for the life of you, then your car is in excellent condition.

Why buy a new car if you're afraid to use it, wash it, or touch it? They're actually manufactured to be driven outside, in all kinds of weather. Don't be scared to breathe on it....

Need to at least wash and clay bar the car once in the beginning before you ever wax it to get out all the crap that's stuck into the clear coat. You would be surprised what is mashed into there from the birth of the car and will be there for years and years only to cause pre-mature clear coat pealing and even rust if not take care of.

Don't wash the car as much as you want..... But for sh!ts sake, wash and claybar it soon otherwise you're just causing damage to the vehicle.
