Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 if Mobil is your choice. Higher hths (3.58) thins out less at high temps, so you still have some oil pressure at those temps.

Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 is a Dexos 2 approved oil. Dexos 2 (not Dexos 1) is the recommended service fill for Europe. See page 10-10 in the UK owners manual for the Camaro. You won't see Dexos 2 recommended for the US because of lower speed limits and because Dexos 1 is used for EPA/CAFE certification for fuel economy ratings.

"Use of Substitute Engine Oils if
dexos2 is unavailable: In the event
that dexos2-approved engine oil is
not available at an oil change or for
maintaining proper oil level, you
may use substitute engine oil that
meets ACEA C3 of the appropriate
viscosity grade."

Minimum HTHS for C3 is 3.5. US market Dexos 1 Mobil 1 is 3.1.

This is great. I didn't know about this oil; thanks! I will be buying this one next time.

EDIT: Looking at its specs, it looks like a bit of a cheater oil, since it's closer to 0W-40 in specs than a real 5W-30. For a second, I though there was finally a 5W-30 oil with high HTHS, but I guess you can't have the cake and eat it, too

I just ordered a case of 12 1-liter Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30. It cost $109.88, which makes about $43 for 5 quarts. So it's about 50% more expensive than the pretty-cheap Mobil1 EP at $28 for 5-quart bottle, but I think it might indeed be a better fit for our car.

Hmm well the old link I had was http://www.gmdexos.com/licensedbrand...sedbrands.html, which is dead now. I also bought a case of it after seeing it on the list. Edit: here is the current Dexos 2 list.

Mobil lists just their 0w-40 here, along with a different 5w-30. I think there has been a re-think for business reasons because I also remember a 5w-40 ESP listed as Dexos 2.

Regardless ESP 5w-30 is C3 rated so we're good per the Euro manual.

12.1 for the cSt at 100*, yeah that does put it in the 40 weight catagory.
