I haul my ZL1 A6 in an Enclosed Trailer.
Always in Park (pretty much the same as in gear) and with the parking brake as tight as possible. I use 4 straps from the sub frame tie down points to the trailer D rings. I use T hook straps int he front and J hooks in the rear. I do not cross the straps. The car doesn't move an inch. |

Towed all of my track car in neutral, parking brake fully cranked. Never had a problem with that. Tow straps should be replaced every few seasons. They are cheap insurance. Towing in gear is horrible for the transmission. How often do you go backwards while in a forward gear? If you tow in gear, there is a constant back and forth strain on the drivetrain. Unnecessary wear.
Just my 2c but also the advice of every track junkie I've polled including trailer dealers. |

By the way, you ALWAYS want to cross the straps. I have had a car shift side to side because the straps were not crossed and the rim dug into the side of the trailer. Had to get really creative and jack up the car, on the trailer, and move it on the jack to get it off the side of the trailer without causing more damage.
