Been here, done this before...

There will be On-Star Nav only. DIC will provide street names and turn directional arrows. To not provide a screen is certainly "un-conformative" and I like the clean instrument panel design, not centered around a nav screen pod. But I'm sure many would prefer a screen -not on release Camaro.

See Pontiac G8 for reference.

I have a NAV in my Avalanche and do not even use it. On Star has a program that will tell you over the speakers how to get somewhere. Little pricey but much easier to use. I do like the rear view camara however that comes with the NAV system. A little costly however just for a rear camara at around $2400.00. I will not be looking for a NAV system in my Camaro, just will not really need it. However I do like having all the controls for the radio and such on the touch screen, so if they could incorporate a touch screen without the NAV at a resaonable cost I would opt for that

All this talk of Onstar pisses me off.

I bought an '04 Trailblazer and was so stoked about getting Onstar activated for it...but I needed like $300 just to get it up and running because I was a new customer of a used vehicle.

Screw Onstar....for that reason alone. I officially boycott them and am not impressed by anything else they offer.

I'm probably being unreasonable, but I was so disappointed that's how it goes.

Having said that, there is no reason for the Camaro not to have it. The zeta platform is made for it. The Onstar turn by turn has been upgraded to incorporate features with it, and as you mentioned, the competition already has it. I'd venture to say I'm over 95% sure the Camaro will have it as an option.
If you remember this older camaro interior pic it shows a gauge cluster a lot like in the G8. Look at the screen in the middle.

I think it will be an option, but I won't be getting it. I will stick with my Garmin Nuvi.

Save your cash, get a Garmin (or some other brand)....that actually allows you save the cash on any vehicle you buy (so saving 2K a couple times is well worth it). You can also take it as a hand held if you go camping/hiking/etc.

Use the money you save on a nav for exhaust, stereo, etc. It will be a far better (more fun) return on the investment.

I gotta say, I appreciate the garmin enthusiasm, I really do. I have used them and in a pinch I love them. But for me, they are ugly as sin sitting up on the windshield. It is a lot of money to shell out for a NAV option, but if its a good NAV and has other multimedia features, I'll pay it.

But the point is not "well I like GARMIN so they should NOT put NAV, everyone should use GARMIN because I am fine with GARMIN and everyone should like it like me" the point of the thread is does it NEED to have NAV just to open up that last bit of market for maybe the small group that want it. Does it NEED to have NAV because the MUSTANG and CHALLENGER have NAV. That is the point.

Whoa caps.

I don't understand the correlation between HUD and NAV though. Vettes (and some Pontiacs) have had HUD for years without NAV.
