When the 5th gen came out. it was such a cool styling car, plus it was a camaro again.

IMO the new camaro doesn't even look much different than the 5th gen. Other than the interior updates(which are really nice). It feel more like a updated 5th gen. i also hate the rear end.

It doesn't help that dealers are mostly only ordering loaded 2SS's and 2LT's.

Walking onto a Chevy lot, going up with a 6th Gen 2SS and seeing a MSRP of $45,000 or more, getting a shock and then going "okay well maybe a V6?" and seeing a MSRP of $34,000 or more would certainly turn me off to the Camaro.

Yes price may have a lot to do with it. You could pick up a base model for low 20's back when they came out.
I tried finding a 6th gen while cruising down the Beach one day and there were none on the lot of the local Dealer.

The 2.0T should help with that base starting price shock..but not if dealers only order loaded 2LT examples of it too.

It was really cool to get 300+ HP for $24,000 back in 2009.

+1 Except I don't hate the rear fascia. To attract current 5th generation Camaro owners, GM should have made a more radical departure from the exterior styling.

Besides not seeing many Gen 6's on the dealer lots and none on the street yet there has been zero advertising for them. It's still winter here in the Chicago area and I think that once the weather breaks and if GM starts pushing them there will be people looking at Camaro's again.

I also think that there are still some Gen 5's around and with price breaks those are probably taking sales away from Gen 6.

Everyone keeps saying the weather is keeping sales for the Camaro really down..but the sales of the Mustang and Challenger have remained very consistent during the winter. In fact I think the Mustang sold 11,000 cars last January or February or something like that.

Just picked my 5th gen up from the dealership. It had been in for a minor warranty issue, and I took a look at the three 6th gens they had on the lot. There were 2 SS's and one V6, all with the RS package and pretty fully optioned from what I could see.

Ran into a friend of the family there and became distracted from looking at the full option sets. Sorry for the lack of detail there.

Overall impressions, I like them. They do look better in person than in the pictures.

Every visual queue, exterior and interior says, "modern." The interior is much busier than that of the 5th gen, but that's sort of the point behind it. The 5th gen has been described as having a "plain" or "basic" interior, and while that's part of the appeal for me, I can see where others will appreciate the new one.

Didn't have a chance to drive one. So, no opinion there, yet.

The exterior styling is, to me, acceptable. It wouldn't dissuade me from buying one if I were in the market for one now.

The most striking impression though is, "smaller." Having gotten out of my 5th gen, and right into the 6th, it was particularly striking. I'm not a big person. 5'9" and around 170 lbs., in decent shape. So, while I wasn't cramped in there, even at my size it was noticeably more confined. I wouldn't want to be a whole lot taller if I were contemplating wearing a helmet in one.

Honestly though, for me, it would all come down to driving experience. If it was a fun drive, I'd take a 6th gen. I can't say I like the looks of the 5th gens, more or less than I do that of the 6th gens. They are different, but equivalent, to me.

I'm hoping once the weather warms up, the sales will too. From any technical standpoint, they look to be an excellent car. I'm going to continue owning and modding my 5th gen, but I don't see a 6th gen, as outside the realm of possibility in a few years.

Oh, as trivia, they've still got a new Z/28 in the showroom they're asking 68k for.

The same for the Z/28 at 76k now are had at 55k. Chevy lost on that one. Wait for the 20% off I'm sure it will be back. I would never spend 50k plus on a SS. That's just me.

I sat in the 6 gen Camaro the other day again. I liked the interior, but too dam small. At 5'11" 210lbs, I felt like a caged animal. I am much more comfortable in my Gen 5.

I honestly think the price point of the 6th Gen is scaring off potential buyers. Most are people like me. Mid 40's looking for a midlife crisis car. If I didn't have my 12 1SS Vert I would be looking at the new convertible. But a 7 grand premium over the coupe? No thanks and I am sure others think the same as I do. Camaro used to be a blue collar worker car. The car the average family could afford. I don't think that is the case anymore. Plenty of other options out there for affordable performance. Not V8 performance but quick enough for a husband driving his wife and two kids comfortably in the back seat.

The only problem I have with the 6th gen is the price.

I've seen 2 on the road. It's a nice looking car, but WOW nearly 40K for a loaded 2LT. Are you kidding me? FAIL
