My mid life crisis started in my 20's with my first Camaro

I have not been without a Camaro or Firebird since buying that car and I am 58 now.

Some people never grow up

I bought mine at 41 and have heard the term "midlife crisis" over and over. I think it comes from people who are actually jealous that they can't or won't get what they really want

I'm about to turn 53. I didn't get my first Camaro until I was 48. Got my second one at 51. I couldn't afford one when I was younger.

What? If average is 76, I've got a lot of living to do in the next 3 years.

My Mom just turned 96 and still doing great. Of course my family has NEVER been accused of being average on any level.

You guys are just a bunch of youngsters to me.

I bought my first Corvette as a 50th birthday present to myself. I bought my second (Z06) when I was 57.

Since then I have owned a Shelby GT, three GT500s, and I just bought my first Camaro (2015 1LE). Setting it up for the track.

I have been on track, as both a driver and an instructor, for more than 30,000 miles. It is a passion that I am addicted to.

Next year I will be eligible for SS and Medicaid.... so what!

I am "faster than some, slower than others, and safer than most".

Getting something you always wanted isn't a mid life crisis. If I'm going through a mid life crisis.....my cure would be dark haired....half my age with measurements better then me female companion.....then I would say yep.....mid life crisis is a terrible thing.

I got mine for my 40th birthday, so yeah maybe it was a bit of a midlife crisis kinda thing. The 1LE has cured me though! Crisis averted.

I bought my 2010 SS when I retired 2 years ago. I was thinking - geezz should I be frugal and buy like a Malibu or Cruze? Being a die hard hot rodder with mod fever for more that 35 years, I wised up real quick and searched all over for a black SS 6sp, found it, paid cash, and never looked back. What a killer car! I can't wait to install the extensive mods I have accumulated this winter. You know mod fever is bad when the price of all the mods exceeds the price paid for the car!

I love my mid life crisis's, I plan on having as many as I can. at 35 I got new bass boat and a Porsche Cayman (first and Second crisis at same time). At 40 I had my 3rd crisis and trade the Porsche for my current Camaro. i feel my next one coming quickly as I want trade up for a new bass boat again. Wife doesn't mind as a few of her friends husbands have decide instead of getting the toys they always wanted when they were 20 to go and cheat and date 20 year old's.

In no way would I think that owning a Camaro is a midlife crisis type of thing. Purchasing a new Camaro is no small feat, and often times it will take an individual a little time before being able to own one (not necessarily due to income), as a lot of factors will come into play before being able to own a Camaro.

I bought my first Camaro when I was in my thirties, and I'm currently on my second Camaro. I like to advise curious young buyers that its beneficial to have some driving experience before owning a powerful sports car like Camaro. Its a great car to own if its handled right, and I feel that its a car for everyone that wants one.

You have over 300 guitars, I though my 11 was a lot. Anyway, I bought my car at 51 and it's not a mid life crisis car. ( I do hear that) but I've always owned sporty cars. I had a Mustang GT when I met my wife in '87, so she better understand. The funny thing is that I have owned more expensive cars than my 1LS, but this one gets all of the attention.

I don't think crisis is the correct word, it just happens to be used following midlife. I think this is the time we get our acts together and can afford a fun, maybe not the most practical, car and enjoy it.
For some the kids have moved out or out of college, others pay their houses/credit cards off and others lose a bad spouse and can now afford it.

How about midlife reward?
