In my first 3 years of Camaro ownership, I went through 3 windshields from stone hits. This was because I commuted on interstates in heavy traffic.

My stats were only slightly better before that, probably because previous vehicles were trucks, with windshields higher off the ground.

As for pitting, that's just from smaller strikes, like sand. The only way to avoid that is to park the car in the garage, which is way less fun than driving it.

Had my 2010 Camaro since June 2009 and have 87,000 miles on her and never had the windshield replaced but do have the rock chips with little white marks all over.

Windshields are DOT. The rock clip is luck. Stay away from big trucks and 18 wheelers. They are one that will kick up rock, that hit your windshield.

This one is new. Some background. I washed the car yesterday and it did not have that scratch on the windshield. I parked it in my garage and didnt take it out again until heading to work. And when I took it out of my garage, it had this scratch across the windshield.

And before anyone says it. Its not dirt. Already tried to clean it

I don't know where in Florida you are, but if you spend any time on I95 or around the beaches your windshield is going to get sandblasted. I feel your pain, the windshield on my 2010 was all dinged up.

Edit: I'm pretty sure here in FL you can get your windshield replaced for free through your insurance... Still a pain in the arse but better than paying out of pocket.

They may meet DOT requirements; but, based on my experience and those of friends and family, the quality of windshields GM uses with their HUD equipped vehicles could be a lot better. After a couple of years, they look like they have been 'sand blasted'. Had the one in my Corvette replaced after 4 years and getting ready to replace it again. Starting to see the same now on the Camaro a little after 2 years. Have friends and other family members that have/are experiencing the same thing. Not talking about chips from rocks kicked up from other vehicles and haven't seen it with our non-HUD equipped vehicles.

My '10 windshield is no better or worse than my Bonneville's.

I always keep my distance on the highway though.

Can you feel it? If I run my finger nail over it I can feel it, it's real faint. I am kind of scared it might break further????

If its on the outside could you have gotten a chunk of sand or something under your windshield wiper maybe? I can only see mine when the sun hits it just right, it looks like a spider web and that is what I thought it was at first until I touched it. Good luck figuring it out.
