the reason it is set for 55 is because during the first few hundred miles of the break in, you're not supposed to go past 55..

Mine was set from the factory at 55 MPH. I am going to set it to something higher though - here in AZ many of the highways and interstates are 65 - 75. Maybe I'll set mine to 80ish.
What's up with GM naming the information display the "DIC"? My wife giggles and laughs at this all the time. She says about the speed warning, "Honey, your DIC is going of again!" Geez, she says this wether she's driving or I'm driving - no respect.
