It is just one run, your time run will be 49:09 if you run the 110 MPH class. There is an event in Texas the Big bend open road race which is down and back. It is 60 miles one way, the Silverstate is 90 miles one way. Hopefully this link will work, this is the course http://www.sscc.us/course_notes_map.aspx

I actually no longer have the harness bar, in order to tun the Grand sport class and the 140 MPH class i have to have a 4 pt roll bar in my car. I had the Speedware motorsports bar, but they are now out of business, i will post a couple pics of the harness bar.

Checked out some of your videos and saw you raced with WSMC too! I raced F-40, BOTT Middleweight and against the 600's on my 748R Ducati.
I think it was 2003-2005 that I was out there. One afternoon I got hit by a Sunday driver and never got up to race pace after. Oh well, life moves on.
Good times for sure!

Dude, wow, we were racing out there at the same time. I was there from 2001-2005, my last race was Oct. 15th 2005 exited turn #8 at 145+ never made #9, everything changed for me as well that day. I remember the class you were in, at that point of my racing i was concentrating on Formula 40 lightweight, took a 2nd place class championship in 2004. That was truly one of the greatest times of my life racing living my dream with WSMC. Hope you can make it in Sept. this is one cool event!

I have thought of little else beyond doing the Silver State since reading your post. I think Grass Roots Motorsports had an article on it years ago when I was doing HPDE's in the M3 and ever since then, I've wanted to do it.
Oh man, one practice session I came up on a novice that chopped the throttle on me and stood the bike up as I was about to pass him in T 8.
Holy cow! Talk about doing a stoppie in 6th gear!
And in a BOTT race, opening lap, we're all tucked in, on the gas out of 7 in a long line and Ruben's beautiful 749R launching straight up in the air about 30 feet in T8 as he was leading. Crazy sh*t.
I crashed in T2 (and 1, and 4...) passing a guy, so I feel your pain.
Yeah, for sure, I want to do this.

I think about it all the time too. Yeah i have seen some wild stuff there as well. Glad you're in, you wont regret it. The whole reason i put the role bar in was to just be able to run the Grand sport class. The touring was fun, the Grand touring was even better, and WOW!!! the Grand sport was so freaking amazing. I loved it when my navigator (my son) gave me the thumbs up and i took 5th from 6th at 140 MPH then wide open to 159 MPH (not tuned yet or it would of been 165 MPH) and just hold it there...wish i could do that everyday. It sounds like you have racing experience, so you might be able to get a waiver, contact them and plead your case. I was ably to get a waiver my 1st time and didn't have to take the new racer school, because of my racing at Willow.

That goes for anyone of you guy's that are going. If you have racing experience, just let them know and talk to them and see if a waiver is possible. Those that dont, dont worry about it. The new racer school at Las Vegas motor speedway ISN'T a track day!!!! They just want to see that you can control your car. I dont even think it is on track, i think it's in the parking lot.

As far as the event goes, what other precautions do you people take with their cars? I'm guessing newer tires with a high speed rating are a must.

There aren't any twisties, there are 14 mile long straight aways leading to a dog leg bend then another 13 mile long straight aways ETC, For the Touring class you need a U rated tire http://www.sscc.us/documents/global/...6_rulebook.pdf There is really nothing that needs to be done to the car. Wether it's a V8 or a V6 it's just a fast Sunday cruise, there's nothing hard on the car at all!! In my division that's a different story. So get a helmet, fire extinguisher, and metal valve stem caps, and yes your tires need to be in good condition. Everything is in the rule book that i posted the link.

Hey cornerspeed!

I saw you were instructing the last time I went to ACS in Fontana.

This looks like a cool event. I'm in Vegas all the time for business. I'll see if I can make this event. Looks fun.

When are you going back to ACS again?

That would be pretty cool if you can make it, it really is a fun event. I will continue instructing, but dont have any track day events in my near future, im putting my effort in to Silverstate, which is the whole reason i put the roll bar in.
