Might look for a place to get a third opinion. The engine I have isn't flooded nor cracked so why switch the entire motor.
Was the Camaro in water?

Get the biggest, most cammiest rumbling stroker motor you can. That's what you can do.

It would be in your best interest to have them pull the head. I dont see how a spark plug could do this much damage and dont think its possible to damage other cylinders. If the cylinder wall is damaged you might as well replace the short block. for the money you will have into it. If it just needs a new piston they could do that with no warranty. 100k id be doing a used low milage engine if any work was needed.

Thank you! I think I'm going to tow my car to another mechanic and get another opinion. I don't see how one spark plug made this much damage. I got a tune up about 3 weeks ago and I think that mechanic (same shop) messed something up but there is no way I can tell.

Probably but no telling. What pisses me off is he has a Camaro gen 3 so I trusted him to take care of it like its his baby. I moved into a complex so no more garage so I have to trust other ppl.

I've seen the damage a plug can do, over and over. The steel it's made of is far stronger than the aluminum of the engine components it's been smashed against a few thousand times. No need for a third opinion and the extra cost of a tow. Have the head removed and inspect for damage, it's the only way to know what the situation is.
