It is quite loud but I enjoy it! The verdicts still out if my neighbors enjoy it.

Finally got my GPI SS2 VVT cam installed. Work was done by JRG Motorsport and tuning by Matt at GP Tuning in Hayward, Cali. Matt did a great job at getting the car dialed in with the help of Ryan at GPI.

I am currently running the cam without an aftermarket torque converter, but have been scheduled to go back and put in a circle d triple disc stall in a month. The car made 454 rwhp on the first pull on a dynojet dyno. The second corrected pull it made 442 rwhp on 91! Looking to head to the track this upcoming Wednesday! Below are some install pictures.

Sounds awesome! Ryan at GPI seems like a great dude........I've seen other threads where he always passes on VVT tuning information to installers/tuners.

U have appt for TC install? I'll be there May 10 - 13 for install/tuning.

Congrats! That is a strong setup!

I have the GPI VVT SS1 in my LSA conversion and it's been spectacular! Running stock torque converter too...

Ryan is fantastic and between him and Andy from ADM, made mine something...

BTW, who did you order your MTs from?

Still trying to line something up so I can get out of work, but it should be around mid-end of may, might upgrade the fuel system at the same time! Josh at JRG is a awesome guy, your car will be in great hands.

Thanks Don, I love your build and I've looked into doing something similar with the ss1 vvt and lsa conversion like you, but opted for a n/a approach!

I ordered them through Grand Prix Auto Sports Center in Tulsa, OK. They had the best pricing. MT discontinued the model the week I made the purchase. I'm sure you could call them and still get them.

They rolled out the updated model of my tire as the ET Street S/S and people have started marketing those. I really wanted these older mickeys because I heard great things about them. Hopefully that helps!

Great to hear! I've not met Josh yet. But I know that Matt has worked with him for a number of years.

I've known Matt since the mid 90's when we both has 4th gen Z/28's, so I'm sure we GM lovers are well taken care of! Looks I'll be coming down from Reno on the 9th or 10th. Do you live and work in the east bay?

Nope I live closer towards you in the Sacramento area. Josh still has a 4th gen, he's looking to break into the 9's this year with stock internals, vortec, and nitrous.

With a little luck, I'll be rolling through there on the way home the evening of the 13th!
