I've heard more air means less heat and combustion so better gas mileage? People even said they have gotten mpg increase

And it could be a computer problem. Unless you see you're filling up more often

How much oil did you put on the filter?
I'm pretty sure its something simple you have overlooked...
Alright so guys I can honestly say with confidence I don't drive super fast in my car, and I am not bolting out at every light/ stop sign. I have reset the MPG multiple times, and I have made sure that everything is securely in place but I didn't put any oil on it at all. Was I supposed to? Ontop of that "High Magnitude" I have been filling up twice a week now since I installed it, and "5alive" I can get pictures tomorrow night of it but I can send you a picture on google that looks exactly like my install.

this is truly odd, i have the same K&N cai, not one issue at all, car runs and sounds great!!
have you contacted K&N? i do believe the maf only goes on in ONE direction, i would look at mine to compare, but the car is um not easy to get to right now, like the dude said, did you try putting the stock intake back on?? and if it were me id go back to stock until this gets resolved, doesn't sound good for your engine, sure would like to hear what you find out......???

Have you tried checking your MPG manually?

oh, bye the way no oil is needed on the first install of the cai, many miles down the road when you clean the air filter, you apply oil from the cleaning kit, but something keeps going around in my head, what about any other wires, when you took the engine cover off, or working around the engine, look for a possible disconnect harness, dude, the install looks right on, recheck the maf, is the plastic cracked?... from your earlier post you said you checked your connections, "on your install", so check around and on top of the engine....maybe?? ive knocked things off before..??

When you installed it, did you reset the MPG then, or disconnect the battery?

A couple of days is not going to give you an accurate avg MPG, it really takes more time to get your true mileage according to your driving routine. Traffic, stop lights, and highway driving all figures into that number.

Thanks,

I have a K&N on my 2011 SS and MPG didn't change at all.

ok so I have checked everything around the engine to make sure I didn't knock anything over by mistake, and everything seemed to be perfectly fine. I have not tried to replace the original cold air intake yet I can't do anything with my car today sadly. I reset the MPG right after, and I reset it once a day ever since I put it back on. I did forget to disconnect the battery now that I think about it. Would that make that much of a difference I was told it was alright to leave it plugged in. I also didn't get a cleaning kit I will purchase one though, and when I get it see if cleaning the filter will work.

i don't hardley check my MPG ! id say don't focus on it for awhile and if you reset it and smash on it from stop lights around town then it will be off... take it on the freeway and cruise a bit reset it and see what it says at constant speed.. when you fill up just divide your gallons you put in with your miles see what happens

Are you going by the average MPG on the DIC or doing the math every fill up?

no you don't have to clean the filter just yet, i believe they say up to 50,000 miles before a cleaning is needed, so yeah, i've had mine on for over two years with out a problem, and i too did not disconnect the battery, gas mileage no change, so im just wondering to, just how you came up with 11 miles a gallon..?

with the tank full, drive 200 miles, fill up, and how ever many gallons it takes to fill up, divide bye your milage, so (200miles dividebye 20gallons= 10 miles per gallon...)right, just asking if this is right...
