You have exhaust cutouts? If not than this is a great reason to have them, lol! "But honey, its for safety"!

If only there were some device to warn other drivers of an impending lane change

cutouts or muffler deletes can be used to let the "drifters" know of your existence. This way you won't have to worry about wearing out the horn. Horn fluid is expensive these days.

Now that you are mentioning this and I am re-watching the video, my radio turned of right as i slammed on the brakes and honked my horn. This is interesting.

Sorry, had to cut the video short after that close call, as I started to loudly voice my opinion of that driver

I also had a VERY close call tonight. I was in the left turning lane at a red light next to a gas station that has a lot of car meets, had my turn indicator on, this 18 wheeler came flying towards me, id say about 55 in a 35, swerved and ran the red light. The people at the gas station (i pulled in to look at their cars) said he was about 10 feet behind me when he had just gotten over. It was really damn close and scared the shit out of me. They all thought I was gone.

I understand your frustration. So many people just cruise down the road, then all of a sudden see their exit or whatever, and just dive right to it without even looking.

But I have to say, you spent way too much time in his blind spot. I remember way back in high school, our driver's ed teacher always said the key to good defensive driving is to assume that the other guy is about to do something really stupid.

Never travel in the blind spot of another driver if you can avoid it.

Here is an easy way to align your side mirrors to rid yourself of the blind spots.

1. Lean your head as far to the right as is comfortable from the drivers seat. Adjust passenger side mirror so you can see down the passenger side of your vehicle.

2. Put your head against the driver side window. Adjust driver side mirror so you can see down the side of the vehicle.

When you return your head to the normal driving position, your side mirrors will now be reflecting exactly what is normally the "blind spot". It does not look natural, but check it out, between your rear view mirror, and your side mirrors, you now have everything covered.

Anyway, if more people did this, there would be a lot less of what you almost experienced. Good thing you have extremely fast reflexes. Guess you are silll young.
.
Many experienced drivers do not know this....try it and watch the cars automatically go from rear view to side view mirrors. Automobile engineers designed mirrors with this practice in mind. Camaros with blind spots the size of Alaska should try this.

Had a similar incident in my truck last year. Only differences were that it was still daylight, the Explorer was a HUGE motor home towing a trailer, I was on the left side, and there was a concrete divider about 1 foot to my left. Luckily I only had to replace a mirror, ninja like reflexes kept the damage to only that. I had to run the guy off the road to get him to stop. He was close enough to killing my truck that he folded both of my mirrors in.

Glad you're ok and that sound wasn't your wheel scraping the curb!

That's the way I am, I will speed up a little to get by them quicker.. I have seen this happen WAY too many times.

LOL, that's nothing you should have someone pull from the right lane in front of you after they camped in front of van forever doing 55 just as you go to quickly pass when the flow is 70 on the left and your going to finally get in after patiently waiting for the hogline to give a opening forever and your accelerating and then the stock shifter does not want to hit a downshift to third..... I do not stay in peoples blind spots if I do not have too for very long, people suck. And not passing on the right is largely ignored.

From years of riding a motorcycle, I never hang out in someone's blind spot, and you just learn to expect them to do the dumbest thing possible at the worst possible moment..

Blessed is he who expects nothing for he shall not be disappointed...

Glad you avoided getting stacked up, passing on the right, you most likely would have received the ticket.
