2bravo, you're new so you may not have read all the posts I've made on Number 3 a 1LT V6 from the CTF. I had the good fortune to put 15,000 miles on that car and enjoyed every single mile. I also had an SS for several months after that and yes, the SS is supreme for speed, but every time I drive a V6 I am still amazed. I actually have a 2LT right now for a little while and it is still just as much fun as the first drive in Number 3 way back in December.

There is plenty of ooomph for a really good time in the V6 cars. I've read very few posts from anyone who regretted their purchase.

After test driving both models yes the V8 is amazing but the V6 shocked the hell out of me how good it was. Imo it goes like a scared rabbit when broken in for a daily driver its tons of power. My advice test drive one and form your own opinion. Gm hit a home run imo with both offerings there is no wrong choice.

The LT is about 30% heavier than your last car, but its engine has 50% more power. It's a net gain.

Bravo, the frist car I drove with this motor wasn't the Camaro, in fact, its my STS Caddy, which is heavier than our Camaros. I think my Caddy kicks some a$$ and it does, once I got my Camaro, then I was really impressed. The very first car I ever owned NEW, was a 2nd Gen Camaro RS, and now that I have all the kids out of the house, its time for Daddy to have a NEW TOY! and I am in 7th Heaven!

You bring up a very interesting point... I hadn't thought about it like that.

Yeah this will be my very first "new" car... that is if I don't shop around for a lightly used one, but I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Thanks for you input!

I definitely want to get a manual, which I think will probably make the '6 feel even sportier. This will be my first manual car as well.

GO to any cadillac dealer and test drive one of the many cts 3.6 DI rwd vehicles and you'll get a good indication of how cool the V6 camaro is..(camaro's a few hundred pounds lighter too)

Still if your having any doubts after the test drive.. splurg on the 31 grand SS with the v8. ...at that price its also a hell of a deal and doable even on a limited budget..

both engines are awesome..

Have fun and let us know what you decide and why.

JB

Well... I doubt any Cadillac dealer is going to let me test drive a CTS (I'm 30 but everyone says I look younger). Maybe if I show up in a suit. And the 1SS is $37,XXX something here (Canada) and it's over $41K for the 2SS. So price wise I think I am limited to an LT model.

It'll be a while before I am ready to buy so I can do plenty more research. Judging by the level of satisfaction most LT(S) owners have with the V6, I think I'll be very happy.
