O knew that. Lol the purpose of my post was to show others how things like valve construction can change the volume of the chamber. The only way to know for sure is too cc the chamber otherwise you are guessing unless you're good, them you're estimating. Lol

Yes. The depth of the tulip shape adds volume to the chamber compared to a flat faced valve. It's a trade off. A tulip valve is lighter but makes the chamber larger.

That's why I always cc the heads, there are so many variables, one might think that they removed .040 so should be at a specific cr but so many things have an effect on it, if the heads were ported and some work was done to the combustion chamber the volume is different, valves make a difference, if you want to get real technical spark plugs can make a difference. Always measure. That is also why I always clay pistons when checking clearances. You can run a piston loose in the bore and when in motion the piston may rock a bit causing fluctuations in clearances. There are so many variables, that's why some run like a bat out of hell and some blow up. lol .

Unless you have adjustable rockers and solid rollers your measurements for ptv are dependent on setting zero lash etc. If it had reliefs and I wanted to know radial clearance clay would make sense. Otherwise they should be within .001-002 tops from an indicator vs clay. While the clay compresses the piston could rock in the bore too so... JMO. On a different note, I ordered a custom cam from kip slightly smaller but should rip pretty good. CFD I will measure the chambers just for s and G's. What do you use? Graduated cylinder? Water/oil?

Ran a .639/.623 tsp cam 235/239 112 LSA older grind on stock heads and had no PTV problems, the deal on the pushrods I would think is subtract .006 to the length of the pushrod used if cammed before the head swap which is not much .... The thing to do is mock Up clay if your really that worried about the PTV, and if your pulling the heads for Giggles...why not use this time for new buckets and lifters if a freshen up? And those preload specs seem right in line with the "Zone" many have used for preload...

It had no ptv clearance issues. Did you measure though and if you did, what did you get? I'm curious. Ne trays and lifters are being installed like stated earlier. Not sure what your saying about preload?

Your saying a .006"shorter pushrod? These are Johnson 2110s and will they have .200" travel they recommend.035-.045" compared to say .075". I ordered to sizes smaller than I have and one set will end up going back.
