. Seriously I was considering the Chally but its the same chassis as my current car, looks the same inside too. Feels like a big car, handles good for one though. I would love to have both but after the camaro, if I can a chally used I might get it just as a collectors item. But for now I'll go car jack my moms IROC convertable and drive with the top down by PCH highway which is right next to the beach By the way thanks for welcoming me to the forum, looking fowards towards some further chats with all you cool people. |

How many manual LS1 F-bodies, with only a lid, catback, and DRs run 12.4s with no power adders?... My brother ran a 12.4, with a stalled auto', and the mods' above with 3.73s with a 1.6X 60'. I've run a 12.6 with the same mods' and a 3.23 rear with the hitting the rev' limiter on the 2-3 shift. "Automatic transmission and performance do not mix" my @$$. In addition, I believe the SRT-8 will have a manual next year. To the original poster - WELCOME. I say get a Camaro, of course. From what a few have said, about the DI V6, it sounds like a person would be really suprised by what the power is. Take a test drive when they finally come out

Well, I'd never buy an automatic. Never have, never will. Six gears and 3 pedals forever
If you know how to drive one, forget 0-60 times and straight away drag racing, I could eat any automatic in the twisties or on the slalom with a stick. 0-60 times are one thing, and I'll concede on the point an auto can shift as fast (as a pro) or faster (than a novice) than a stick shift. But if you go stock for stock - i.e. straight from the factory, no stall kits or cats or modified intakes - a stick shift will run neck and neck with the best automatics when driven right and will eat an auto up on winding roads. |

Hey, for straight line racing which is what muscle cars are known for, an automatic is usually better so at least you have that backing you if you go for the SRT8. I'd still choose the Camaro because... well, I'm part of this forum and I wouldn't choose otherwise or else I wouldn't be here. :\
