I have a 1SS/RS on order here in NW Arkansas. Its been a little under a month. Went in today and was told they are still on restricition. Do you think its the dealer or acutally GM?

Did anyone else pay a holding fee to order, which is then applied to the down payment?

I happen to notice in his que...at least i think it was this...that there were something like 1400 on order with restrrictions, througout the U.S.

Thoughts?

I ordered my 2SS the last week of August and it arrived today. I went to see it since i couldn't get it til Monday and he said this was the last allocation they have for a 2SS right now. He was told they didn't know when they would get another one but he can get V6 cars fairly easy now.

Let me start off by saying I don't know how accurate info is given to me, but my sales person is a "straight-up" kind of guy. Need to be if you want longevity in a small city where bull$h1t catches up to people, especially in car sales.

My dealer only takes down payments and enters the order in the system when they get allocations. They use an internal wait list to manage order priority. Back in March, I offered to buy above MSRP just to see what they would say. They wouldn't take any money unless they had allocations. I offered to put the entire amount down. No go. So wait list it was until July. I ordered my 2ss/rs the last week of July and gave my down.

The computer showed a est. target production week of 1st week Sept when my salesperson looked into the system back in August and again when he checked today. I don't know what this date he's citing since my order is still at 1100. SS constraint hit later, but somehow, my order never was picked up, even with the system showing this "est TPW?". Sales guy told me they are getting all their deliveries of their previous SS orders. Only mine and a previous order was in the system in early August.

My sales guy is going to follow-up next week. I guess if dealers put up big numbers, more SS allocations are given to those dealers and "turn & earn" doesn't count for small market dealers.*opinion* So far, no SS has been picked up since my order was entered back in July. Two weeks ago, I turned down a delivered SIM 2SS/RS(buyer backed out) since I really want black. The SIM went up the waiting list and was sold.

Two months and no SS allocations? This is BS. Can any dealer chime in on this situation? Where are all the SS allocations going?

Two guys at the dealer cited CAFE as the reason for the constraints. Bring on the +$40k Chevy Volt to balance out the numbers again.

OT,
Today, I saw a 1SS with no plates with an engine oil leak sign on the dash in the service bay. I thought these Q&C issues were resolved already.

From the other threads on this topic, it seems that the Brembo brakes is what they are running low on. Someone had posted that they are made overseas and due to labour laws in that country they have about the whole month of August off for vacation, the whole country does! I would say it would be another month before everything catches up again. I think production and orders will slow down too with winter coming. So without something else getting screwed up, a few more weeks and things should start to turn around.

There is no more SS restraint as far as I know. We were giving 16 allocations this cycle with no restraint on the SS.

Well, got more details from my sales guy.

My original allocation was used to build the next V6 on the internal list. Since then, 3 allocations has been used to build V6 due to SS constraints.

Today, I got a call saying I have another allocation and asked if I want to change to a V6. I said NO. 2SS/RS. I got offered a 1SS/RS someone backed out. NO. I was told they still can't order my 2SS/RS due to constraints, but I could order a V6. They will give my allocation to the next guy on the internal list who wants a V6. They cannot order V8s. I am #1 in their system for a V8.

What the @%&* !!! I guess small market dealers just get the shaft for SS allocations? Or am I being fed BS??? Is there any way to confirm SS constraints and what critieria is used to distribute if constraints still exist?

Ok grasshopper... you are being fed a bunch of FOR SURE. My 2SS/RS Summit White got picked up on about 10/7 for a TPW of 10/26 and a bunch more in the 10/26 thread on this site. You should get with one of the more reputable dealers on this site and order from them and have it drop shipped to you via a dealer nearest to you or convienient for you to get to. Many dealers on this site have allocation and are willing to work with you and many dealers are getting cars in where many buyers are backing out at the last minute--some dont like the color/cant get financing in-line, etc. etc...

Good Luck to you and get moving with a different dealer!!

Already looking at out-of-state options. We are held hostage in HAWAII. I have an inquiry with my dealer about drop ship. Other two dealers, all asking +$15K, one says no to drop ship. Total THREE dealers on my island. If were to speculate, my dealer is a low volume Chevy dealer and they only got 1 SS allocation in the last 2 months. Or, they are giving their multiple SS allocations to the executive's friends since they don't charge more than MSRP for everyone. Their main lines are Toyota and Lexus since they are an exclusive distributor for the State.

Regardless, I believe GM is playing favoritism with high volume dealers for SS orders. My dealer only had 6 allocations back in 2008. Now, allocation is not the issue for me, ordering a V8 is. Dealer ordered 3 V6s since they said they couldn't order V8s. Moot point since this subject has been talked to death and only dealers/GM knows the truth.

Sorry for the broken record story that's being told over and over again. Maybe I should've bought a SRT8 or GT500KR... Too bad I have my MBRP 3" exhaust sitting in my garage.

Seriously, I dont think there is any SS restriction anymore.. There was none on this last cycle... It will usually tell you when we order what are the restrictions.. Only restriction I saw come up was for certain color vehicles quarter flares... THAT's it...

Talking to someone already. Local dealer need to accept drop ship before deal can go down. Remember, 2 or 3 dealers are GREEDY. +$15K markups.

Sorry, not greedy, laws of supply and demand. If GM built more cars, then they wouldn't need to charge MSRP + $15K since competition drives down prices. Sorry, took my bitter pill since I've learned it's not a general allocation issue for me.

As soon as my order was placed for my 2SS RS it has been flying! I have a TPW of 10-26. I only sat at 1100 for 3 days. Total time from order to my door will hopefully be 5 weeks.
